The ABN AMRO Clearing Global Head of Operational Risk Management strengthens the ability of ABN AMRO Clearing to continuously meet its regulatory requirements and to service its clients out of a robust operational environment. You lead a team focusing on setting the policy and advising management of operational risks. You monitor, challenge and report the ABN AMRO Clearing operational risk posture within the moderate risk appetite. You have knowledge of internal business processes, compliance and risk management, with a specific focus on operational risk, data risk and fraud risk. You have an understanding of related regulations and you have the ability to apply them to license-to-operate issues and opinions. The department creates a culture and framework of risk awareness in order to achieve sustainable profitable growth, building and keeping the trust and confidence of all stakeholders.
As the Global Head of Operational Risk, you know how to bring your vision to life and enable sustainable change. You find the right balance between the organization’s strategy and your expertise. You work at a level that goes beyond your department and are able to use your influence to bring about change. You manage subject-matter experts who have their own area of responsibility. You look after the interests of your department in dealings with internal and external stakeholders. You enable the experts in your team to be the best they can be and to bring out the best in each other. You implement new ways of working that are appropriate for the situation. Furthermore, you are responsible for addressing and implementing new regulations in relation to operational risk, the development and standardization of instruments e.g., risk assessments, MC&T, IMAT, CRA, REM and product reviews, and setting the global risk appetite statement for operational risk.
ABN AMRO Clearing is designated as a specialized business within ABN AMRO and holds its own banking license (ABN AMRO Clearing Bank NV). Globally the company consists of about 1200 FTE and is largely self-sufficient, organizing its own supporting organization. ABN AMRO Clearing plays an important infrastructural role in the financial markets. As such, it is closely monitored by Regulators and Central Banks. This is augmented by the fact that ABN AMRO Clearing holds significant market shares in financial markets across the globe holding top spots in clearing on numerous exchanges in every region. We work hybrid, which in practice means that you work both in the office and at home (3 days in the office is the starting point). You will report to the Global RTO I&ORM.
