New vacancy: Manufacturing Engineer Procurement

We are looking for an inquisitive and enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineer - Product & Planning (Procurement) to join the manufacturing operations of Fokker Landing Gear. Ideally, you have experience in a low-volume, high-complexity industrial environment, with aerospace supply chain experience as a plus. However, passionate fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.

In this role, you act as the 1st point of contact between our suppliers and the internal organization. As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering SAT (Supplier Account Team), you work among a diverse and international group of 10 Engineers from 9 nationalities, working on exciting programs with mentorship and growth opportunities. Your position focuses on supervising external suppliers and assessing their production documentation in order to achieve effective, efficient and correct production methods.

Fokker Landing Gear

Fokker Landing Gear is part of GKN Aerospace, the world’s leading multi-technology tier 1 aerospace supplier. With 50 manufacturing locations in 15 countries, we serve over 90% of the world’s aircraft and engine manufacturers. We design and manufacture innovative smart aerospace systems and components. Our technologies are used in aircraft ranging from the most used single aisle aircraft and the largest passenger planes in the world to business jets and the world’s advanced 5th generation fighter aircraft.

Fokker Landing Gear has around 350 FTE and designs, develops, produces, assembles, and maintains complete landing gear systems. We supply our products to leading aerospace companies and our products are used in the Apache helicopter, F-35 Lightning II (JSF), Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 and the multipurpose NH90 helicopter.

What you'll do

  • Analyze product specifications and determine the production method of articles or operations manufactured externally.
  • Be the point of contact for all technical issues of external producers and implement changes and improvement projects in production processes.
  • Determine together with your colleagues from the Supplier Account Team, where the relevant articles or operations are placed.
  • Assess and control production documentation, production times, quality assurance, and First Article Inspection documents prepared by suppliers.
  • Provide advice on - and supervise qualification tests and first production series.
  • Investigate product deviations and handle them.
  • Take initiatives with regard to optimizing the performance of suppliers.
  • Assess the technical capabilities of suppliers and support audits.

What you'll bring

  • Technical Bachelor, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace / Automotive Engineering, Master’s degree preferred;
  • Preferably 3 - 5 years' work experience in production engineering / work preparation;
  • Skilled in reading drawings and familiar with GD&T;
  • Good command of English in speech and writing;
  • Analytical, innovative and problem-solving ability;
  • Work effectively and efficiently, can-do and will-do attitude;
  • Working independently, doesn’t shy away from going that extra mile and with initiative;
  • Experience with ERP systems and machining knowledge or experience are highly appreciated;
  • Familiarity with heat treatment, surface treatment of metals;
  • Experience/Knowledge of manufacturing hydraulics and sensor components would be considered a plus.
