Vattenfall is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Head of Construction & Installation. This role reports to the Head of Offshore Project Execution within Project Delivery & Engineering in Business Area Wind.

Within BU Offshore, Project Delivery & Engineering is responsible for the maturation and execution of our construction projects. Our vision is to stay ahead of the competition by safely constructing next-generation offshore wind farms and leveraging our expertise during the planning and contracting phases to ensure successful project delivery.

As part of Project Delivery & Engineering, you will be at the forefront of making a fossil-free future a reality by delivering some of the world's largest infrastructure projects safely, on time, with high quality, and within budget in a complex and dynamic environment.

What will you do?

The Head of Construction & Installation will oversee the construction and installation of all Vattenfall Offshore Windfarms. This role involves leading the Construction and Installation team, which supports Vattenfall’s asset projects from the early Market Screening Phase (TG0) through the Project Construction and commissioning phases (TG3 to TG5) across all fields of construction and installation. Additionally, the team provides construction and installation services for decommissioning projects at the end of their lifecycle.

Furthermore, the team plays a crucial role in supporting bid development projects and tenders by providing expert input on construction and installation technologies, thereby enabling the delivery of faster and more accurate bids.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Construction & Installation expertise from early project phases (TG0) to handover to operation (TG5).
  • Combine a wide range of marine and engineering competencies, and analyse the availability and suitability of T&I vessels and harbours to inform logistics decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering Package Managers, T&I Product Portfolio Director, and T&I Engineers.
  • Oversee the Installation Manager roles, ensuring close interface with various Package Managers to deliver installations on time and within budget.

Key Deliverables and Activities:

Strategy and Growth

  • Drive the department's strategy and the development of future construction and installation technologies and methods.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the team that aligns with the overall goals and objectives of the BU and the organization.

Leadership

  • Lead the team in the installation of projects, ensuring all projects are installed safely and to the highest standards of quality.
  • Collaborate with functions within Project Execution and across the business from early development phases until construction is finalized and decommissioned at end-of-life.

Personnel Management

  • Ensure the team is optimally set up and continues to develop, with adequate manpower in terms of both quantity and quality to meet current and future objectives.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Construction & Installation department, including project management, budgeting, staffing, and performance management.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is desirable.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in operating a large and international renewable energy fleet.
  • At least 7+ years in a similar management position.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large and international teams, drive a performance culture, and develop key skills and knowledge, with a strong focus on health and safety.
  • Highly motivated, inspiring, and communicative leader.
  • Team player with experience in implementing successful changes in an operational and highly dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle strategic, highly complex issues and conflict resolution.
  • Proven track record in technical and commercial asset management, energy production, and performance optimization.
  • Fluent in English.
