Your contribution to TenneT

The business unit Large Projects Offshore (LPO) connects, via innovative HVDC (high voltage direct current) platforms and converter stations, windfarms at the North sea to the grid on the mainland. An enormous amount of renewable energy has to be connected within the next 10 years. Not only connections to the grid near the coast, but even further inland to the south eastern part of the Netherlands.

Your contribution to TenneT

As a (Dutch speaking and writing) colleague you will support our 2GW HVDC grid expansion projects with y

our technical expertise. By identifying (technical) risks early in the process and developing suitable solutions, you play a key role in developing feasible projects that can be built safely and on schedule with minimal scope changes and rework during the construction phase. You will be involved in the development and permitting phase as well as the construction phase and will accompany the projects until completion of the as-build documentation. Your main tasks are;

  • Technical advice to the project managers responsible for permits, planning and construction.
  • Actively participating in the route development and advising on technical solutions.
  • Participating in route and installation optimizations to fulfill a smaller ecological installation footprint.
  • Inspection of potential building sites.
  • Preparation and negotiation of the technical part of all tenders for planning and construction.
  • Technical review of all documents of the planning and construction subcontractors.
  • Supporting the project managers responsible for construction in managing the subcontractors with regard to technical issues and organization.
  • Review of calculations, drawings and reports from subcontractors or other third parties.
  • Alignment with (sub)contractors on technical feasibilities.
  • Coordination of the technical interfaces to other projects (both TenneT internal as well as external) such as substations.
  • Ensuring compliance with permit(s), TenneT specifications and all other relevant rules and regulations.

Your profile and background

  • Most ideally you have completed your studies in civil engineering or comparable.
  • It's great if you have several years of professional experience in a comparable position, whereby knowledge of cable construction sites, horizontal directional drilling and HVDC systems is an advantage.
  • Preferably knowledge of (inter)national standards and guidelines in the field of high voltage cables and/or experience with ampacity calculations.
  • You enjoy working in a team, can communicate well and are open to dialogue and new ideas without losing sight of your own goals.
  • You are able to express your opinion and take responsibility
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English and understanding of the Dutch culture!

This will be our challenge

Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.
