About the role
The Junior Financial Controller will assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgeting, and compliance for our energy trading operations. This role supports the finance team and ensures accuracy in financial data, contributing to the company's overall financial health. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the development of financial models, budgets, and forecasts for the company’s trading operations.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Assist in managing invoices, payments, and reconciling discrepancies.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flows, including income and expenses, and report any variances.
- Internal Controls: Assist in implementing and maintaining strong internal financial controls.
- Tax and Audit Support: Assist with tax filings and audits by providing necessary financial data and documentation.
- Data Analysis: Support financial analysis to identify trends and support decision-making processes.
- Liaise with Departments: Collaborate with operations, legal, and trading teams to ensure smooth financial processes.
- Ad hoc Financial Projects: Assist in any special projects as required by the senior management team.
Required Skills:
- You have a relevant university degree (MSc) in Accounting.
- At least 1 - 3 years of relevant work experience in audit or accounting in energy, trading or commodities sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles and accounting procedures.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., Exact, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
- Excellent Excel skills; ability to work with complex spreadsheets and financial models.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in work.
- Pragmatic and proactive.
- Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
