Job Purpose

The Business Line Manager (BLM) is fully responsible for the representation of the Rock Tools and Ground Support Division in the sales area. This includes people management, customer management, sales, and profitability of the Rock Tools Division, as well as ensuring local implementation of the Rock Tools and Ground Support Division focus areas and measurements. This role is also responsible for the technical and application support for the product line(s) in the sales area. The BLM is accountable for the financial KPIs for the product line(s), Volume of Sales, Profit Margins, A&S, and Networking Capital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure attainment of assigned geography’s budgeted sales value, volume, and/or profitability.
  • Ultimate responsibility is to meet established sales goals and ensuring they are effectively cascaded in sales goals of the sales team.
  • Provide regular business performance metric reports to management.
  • Liaise and work with senior management to set forecasts, budgets, and targets.
  • Ensure that end-user, customer relations are effectively managed.
  • Review and monitor sales performance periodically and refine sales strategy as required by management.
  • Manage the First Line Sales Managers’ performance and results.
  • Managerial responsibility for multiple teams/departments across location.
  • Ensure strong financial discipline within the assigned geographical territory, balancing sales results and managing Administrative and Sales (A&S) expenses.
  • Business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and following up on the product line(s)
  • Collect and supply information and inventions for Product Development to the Rock Tools Division
  • Keep up to date with competition activities and ensure market competitiveness
  • Collect and maintain market data of won and competitors' activities
  • Map needs and ensure delivery of relevant training for the team (application, technical, soft skills, etc.)
  • Ensure technical sales support within the product line(s)
  • Suggest and evaluate distributors in cooperation with the dealer manager if applicable
  • Implement global strategies/ initiatives into the Rock Tools Division in the sales area
  • Maintain a succession plan for key Rock Tools Division positions in the sales area
  • Adherence to the Sandvik Environmental, Health & Safety Policy.

Qualification

  • You are known for driving performance, achieving results, and transforming a vision into a strong plan. You have a passion for cultivating and fostering strong relationships. You understand the market, our customer needs, our competitors, and what actions we need to take to deliver against established business goals and objectives.
  • You are a strong leader, skilled in stakeholder management, and communicate in English. You have sound experience in sales, business development, or other similar fields. Importantly, you will have a strong understanding of Rock Tools principles and practices in surface, underground mining, and construction industries combined with deep working knowledge of the Sandvik Rock Tools product range.
  • You have extensive experience in the mining and/or construction industry, and you have tertiary qualifications in mining, engineering, or a University Business Degree with relevant sales/ business management experience. A minimum of Ten (10) years experience in a similar senior management role is required. Exposure to international markets along with
  • strong cross-cultural awareness, particularly in remote challenging environments, is desirable.
