Operations HSSE Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Improve the HSSE performance in line with the Company strategy.
  • Define the HSSE Plan and activities to provide effective HSSE-Q&R support to the Company operations in the assigned region(s).
  • Ensure prevention and mitigation of risks to our personnel, assets, the environment and our Company reputation, and compliance with all standards, rules and other requirements imposed by Company, Regulators, Clients, and other relevant Stakeholders for discipline and assigned location/scope.
  • Meet the objectives and improve the performance of your discipline for the location/scope in line with Company strategy.
  • Plan the resources and activities related to the discipline in order to provide effective support to the Product Lines/Project/Operation/Site.
  • Drive actively the consistent implementation of the management system across assigned location/scope.
  • Be the HSSE focal point for the discipline and location/scope and represent the Company towards external stakeholders.
  • Promote and embed strong leadership, positive behavior, and culture across assigned location/scope.
  • Lead the department employees and ensure they have the right (level of) competencies to deliver the work results in time and within budget. Oversee resource allocation, employee development, and talent development.

Main Tasks:

  • Contribute to the consistent deployment and implementation of GEMS within the region.
  • Support the deployment of HSSE programmes and initiatives in alignment with onshore HSSE engineers (where applicable).
  • Ensure that the different departments are aware of the latest version of GEMS procedures and instructions.
  • Provide support and advice to the Safety department offshore.
  • Drive continuous improvements of the policies, systems, and tools based on lessons learnt and feedback.
  • Share best practices; develop initiatives to learn from other unit operations.
  • Capture feedback from Safety Officers on the policies, systems, and tools and share them with the onshore HSSE department or Regional HSSE manager.
  • Assist with the delivery of awareness sessions and/or communication campaigns.
  • Promote and develop SBM Safety Culture within the region.
  • Develop skill sets, competencies, and expertise of Safety Officers and Safety Assistants.
  • Provide mentoring/coaching to the Safety Department.
  • Strengthen the interface and mutual support between the Safety Department offshore and onshore HSSE department.
  • Participate or lead incident investigation as required.
  • Act as the Client interface for HSSE and PSM matters.

Requirements:

  • University Degree in Occupational HSE or alternative formal HSE qualification. Plus Chartered Membership of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health).
  • At least 5 years spent offshore on a platform or Floating Storage Unit in a senior safety position.
  • Marine or Production background with at least 10 years in Safety Management.
  • Ability to travel internationally including offshore.

Skills:

  • Ability to influence HSSE performance through engagement, challenge and support at all levels; company senior management, technical disciplines, offshore management, supervisors, and workforce.
  • Well-developed people skills - lead teams, interface with multiple disciplines, work in different cultures, and resolve conflict.
  • Strong team player, working effectively with the Operations Management, the SBM HSSE leadership network, and functional teams across the organization delivering the HSSE improvement projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with a passion for achieving results.
