The department offers a broad portfolio of services for the entire life cycle of a ship built by Damen. This includes handling warranty calls, providing training, supplying spare parts, providing maintenance, and carrying out modifications and repairs. This is reflected in the behavior of its employees; they are always available, proactive, keep their agreements, and always go the extra mile. Within the Services department the question is always: How do we make it happen?

The role

Are you a good fit for the role of Proposal Engineer at Damen Services? As Proposal Engineer, you will design together with the Product responsible the appropriate maritime solution to cover customer requirements. In due process, you as Proposal Engineer will be a sparring partner for Account Management and advise on risk-mitigating measures, terms and conditions and pricing. You will think of solutions in the Services that we deliver, parts packages, training programs and maintenance solutions.

Key accountabilities

• Collaborate with Account Management/Sales and the Client to understand their drivers, issues, expectations, requirements, and competitive landscape.
• Collect, create, and analyze information to estimate cost, time, labor, and materials for project execution.
• Work with stakeholders throughout the project process to achieve market competitive project pricing. This includes cooperation with Supply Chain and Account Management.
• Standardize and develop Services within the Services portfolio (such as, training, vessel dockings, vessel conversions, comprehensive spares packages).
• Participate in tender teams and tender deliverable development.
• Upon effective order, arrange handover (kick-off) from D&P Services to the project execution team.
• Stay involved during project execution to obtain feedback to improve future proposals.

Skills & Experience

We ask our future Proposal Engineer to come prepared with the following:

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, or maritime engineering or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills in English, other modern languages (including Dutch) are considered an asset.

You are:

• Result-oriented, with initiative and commercial skills.
• Decisive and at the same time flexible in your approach and works methodically.
• Able to influence, put things into perspective, and also know how to have the patience that is sometimes needed to achieve results.
• Customer-oriented and well able to manage expectations.
• Willing to occasionally travel.
