Internship Opportunities at Hilton

From day one, our placement students are fully integrated into Team Hilton and are involved in different aspects of the business. Our placements offer vast exposure and opportunities, including networking with senior executives, involvement in regional conferences, and, for some, international travel.

You will be based in our EMEA headquarters, Watford, as part of a cohort of 40+ Interns and take part in regular connect meetings, short assignments, and feedback sessions designed to support your development. Benefits include a subsidised restaurant, a games area, and a free in-house gym.

The Opportunities

As an intern, you will play an active role in our continued success. You will contribute to the delivery of key objectives, as well as having ownership of your own project-based initiatives. We have two placements available in the Energy & Environment team within Hilton’s EMEA Engineering Operations department: Energy Intern and Sustainability & Environment Intern.  

Here’s a bit about the team and the opportunities you could get involved in:

  • Sustainability & Environment Intern: Cover tasks relating to environmental performance and sustainability topics and have exposure to the global ESG team.
  • EMEA Energy Intern: Handle tasks related to energy services, contracting, and procurement. You will have the opportunity to work with key business functions such as Finance and Hilton Supply Management.

Both roles involve supporting the management, implementation, and control of the company’s environment and engineering programs, as well as energy services across EMEA. You will contribute to utility consumption and cost management strategies to reduce costs, deliver value for owners, and drive progress towards Hilton’s Travel with Purpose goals to significantly reduce the environmental footprint and carbon emissions by 2030.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilise and control the environment, social, and governance management platform - LightStay.
  • Control and manage reporting within the EMEA Engineering and Environmental performance program.
  • Develop and verify data analytics for consumption benchmarking, cost forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and share best practices and self-help tools to assist hotel innovative utility savings and sustainability initiatives.
  • Provide analysis of pilot projects and prepare ROI reports for utility and carbon reduction technologies.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with company standards and EU energy and environmental legislation.
  • Review energy market intelligence and invoice detail to inform utility procurement decisions.
  • Maintain and update accurate records of all energy procurement, trading, and contracting activity.
  • Support Regional Engineering Specialists and hotels with sustainability/energy advice and reports.
  • Produce, develop, and contribute to regular business reports and statistics for Energy & Environment team and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Alignment with our culture and values as a hospitality company.
  • Current Bachelor's or Master's student with a required 12-month year in industry placement as part of your degree.
  • Studying a degree in Sustainability, Environment, Economics, Energy, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Must start on 7th July 2025, and work full-time for 12 months.
  • Eligible to work in the UK. Non-UK nationals must be studying at a UK university.
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Computer literate with excellent IT skills – Excel is important, and PowerBi knowledge is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated passion for sustainability, data analysis, and solutions.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets, identify priorities, and make recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to explain sustainability matters to non-technical colleagues, and discuss complex issues with experts.
  • Problem-solving skills, perseverance, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • A resilient and positive mindset with commitment to tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ethical behavior and discretion with sensitive information.
  • Good time management, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of energy markets and economic, political drivers is desirable.
