We are currently recruiting for a Business Manager for our Global Corporate & Investment Banking Division in Amsterdam.

The MBE subsidiary based in The Netherlands is a network of branches (Germany Branch (Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich), Spain Branch (Madrid, Barcelona), Belgium Branch (Brussels), Austria Branch (Vienna)), managed from Amsterdam.

The role includes the following:

Specifically, you will be accountable and responsible for taking appropriate action with respect to the Company’s and MBE GCIB Business Management including:

  • Deputise for Line Manager in relevant meetings/committees/conferences to facilitate policy development and contribute to business performance.
  • Act as the first line of defence for GCIB MBE in relation to first line controls, providing assistance and guidance to GCIB MBE to manage operational risk and ensure internal procedures are followed.
  • Support the resolution of actions relevant to the development of GCIB MBE internal control framework (for example Audit, Compliance, Operational Risk etc.)
  • Take responsibility for identifying and the reporting of risk, governance and regulatory related issues for GCIB MBE
  • Work actively with GCIB MBE teams and internal risk management departments to strengthen the identification and management of operational and compliance related risks impacting GCIB.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal/external audits
  • Work as an integral member of the MBE GCIB Business Management Team to ensure it operates efficiently and optimally, and taking responsibility for driving through the requisite change to achieve this
  • Act proactively with GCIB MBE teams and internal risk management departments to strengthen the identification and management of operational and compliance related risks impacting GCIB MBE
  • Support MBE Team Heads by taking responsibility for the preparation of materials, documents and policies in order for them to present/report to management, both in EMEA and HO, on operational and compliance related risks. Provide solutions and direction and then work alongside the wider business to implement changes.
  • As a member of the MBE GCIB Business Management Team support other business unit heads, where necessary, in key strategic and operating issues and ensuring the implementation of plans.
  • Represent MBE GCIB Business Management on various working groups and projects as required.
  • Develop an understanding of all core systems and procedures within GCIB MBE that are required to effectively monitor and test the robustness of internal controls.
  • Drive the development of new processes and procedures to deliver improvements and innovations across the businesses control environment. Drive these policy changes through to implementation supporting relevant business areas.
  • Maintain and enhance good working relationships with stakeholders, across the region and globally to share best practices, provide support and develop effective local policies and procedures appropriate to the Company, and working in support of the One MUFG and overall Group strategy.)

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

Skills and experience:

  • Degree level education or equivalent industry experience is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Ability to communicate through written and verbal means, to a broad variety of audiences, including senior management as well as external parties.
  • Proficiency in Japanese will be considered as a strong plus.
  • Understanding of the banking industry and financial services industry, especially within the EU, in which the Bank operates. Solid understanding of financial regulatory rules and policies in the EU.
  • Result-driven mindset and a strong sense of accountability. The candidate should be goal-oriented and able to drive progress through prioritization of tasks.
  • Strong networking and influencing skills. Candidate should be comfortable communicating independently with colleagues and subject matter experts to drive progress.
  • Analytical problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive. Ability to speak-up and seek advice/support where needed is key.
  • Team player
  • High level of competency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel / PowerPoint / Outlook / Word) is a must.
