Senior Analyst, Emerging Business

We’re looking for a Senior Analyst, Emerging Business to join us in London, UK.

Job Purpose

The Emerging Business Senior Analyst will:

  • Report to the existing Senior Manager / Director based in the Emerging Business Group, providing high-quality strategic analysis and implementation support to active initiatives.
  • Work to support new revenue initiatives, primarily two active initiatives focused on extending Liberty Global’s reach into the home; with a view to extend scope in 2025 to managing a pipeline of new growth areas for Liberty Global.

Over the longer-term, more day-to-day responsibilities will also include the scoping and support of an activation/ investment pipeline for future initiatives, including:

  • Researching & applying EB criteria to new thematic growth areas.
  • Performing initial analysis of how and where EB could activate new revenues.
  • Creating business cases to showcase the potential for new revenue initiatives.
  • Communication and pitching of new ideas to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preparation of executive / board level materials.

Key Accountabilities

A hybrid role requiring both analytical rigor in analyzing new opportunities, as well as enthusiasm and flexibility for new proposition development and living in the world of tomorrow’s growth opportunities. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to maintain a strategic mind-set while testing and launching entirely new propositions. They will also effectively manage stakeholders (internal and external) to push initiatives forward aggressively, as well as communicate the value of new growth areas and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities will include:
  • Actively researching, scoping, and developing business cases for new growth areas which may be of interest to the business (e.g., determining market size/ addressable market, growth trajectory and rationale, structure of proposition, competitive landscape and macro trends, etc.).
  • Articulation and production of Executive & Investment Committee-level pitch decks.
  • Active support on investment pipeline creation & investment research/ discovery/ scoping; active development of new investment ideas in concert with line manager/ EB team/ Ventures team/ other internal stakeholders to evaluate potential investment targets.
  • Agile and ongoing product development work to stand up, test, incubate, and scale new initiatives (including delivery of additional information required to scope new proposals: information/ research needed to achieve MVP, minimum data requirements, etc.).
  • Ongoing support across BAU processes, projects, financial reporting, regular operational reporting, and constantly searching for opportunities to leverage/ lift & shift existing teams/ resources in the existing organization to benefit the acceleration of our initiatives.
  • Support & guidance to LG Finance Graduates on the EB team.

Knowledge & Experience

Preferred Education/Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, focus in relevant field (finance, strategy) preferred.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • A solid foundational knowledge of corporate finance, accounting, and strategy is essential for this role, as is experience and ability in efficiently and accurately building standard business models, assessing fundamental strategic elements of a business (both mature and early-stage).
  • Ability to scope and pitch new businesses and ideas, and manage senior stakeholders is also critical for success in this role.
  • Exposure to agile ways of working/ design thinking is an added plus.
  • Any additional European languages is an added plus.
