As a Barclays Equities Trading System Engineer, you’ll account for the provision of high quality, bespoke support of the Electronic Trading plant which underpins the Cash Equities business. You’ll be encompassing user & technical support, service improvement, infrastructure architecture and project management - contributing towards the ongoing build-out of Electronic Trading Cash Architecture platform and migrations, across Order management, Client connectivity, Exchange connectivity, Algorithmic trading and Risk Management platforms.

What will you be doing?
Providing solid technical leadership within the Electronic Trading Run The Bank (RTB) team and end to end assistance service for front office users on the trading platforms
Conducting a pro-active monitoring and management of business critical real-time trading systems, determining issues and potential problem areas
Tracking outstanding issues and working with the appropriate group to achieve resolution
Contributing towards ongoing Production Validation Tests, Tech debt remediation projects, Hardware Refresh & Electronic Trading Platform build-out and go-live
Being accountable for the resiliency and capacity management of the production environment
Assisting with and maintaining various RTB tools that we provide as a service to business.
Developing specialist knowledge in relevant systems, with aim of becoming an SME, documenting and sharing with global teams as and when required
Coaching and mentoring more junior team members across the different geographies
What we’re looking for:
Proven experience of Equities Electronic Trading in a related front-office application support role within investment banking – comfortable to work directly with trading desks globally
Extensive knowledge and competence of assisting with applications on Unix platforms and exposure to network connectivity investigation and diagnostics
Experience of aiding with Algorithmic trading platforms, Client/Market connectivity, along with a fundamental knowledge and competence of ITIL concepts
Proven leadership, stakeholder management and influencing skills at all levels globally
Skills that will help you in the role:
Exposure to middleware technologies e.g., Tibco RV/Solace
Experience with and competence of scheduling tools
Knowledge and competence of ITRS Geneos, including deployment of netprobes and Gateway configuration
Bash/Perl scripting and/or Python/Java programming experience will be an added advantage
