Your job

The banking sector is situated in a unique position to help build more sustainable economies, as every company needs finance. The role of the Sustainability Risk team is to offer our expertise to our clients, as well as applying our sustainable values to our products and services to accelerate the transition. In overall, our strategy is built on long-term objectives in the areas of climate change, the circular economy (including biodiversity) and social impact.

For this internship, you will support our team in Sustainability Expertise – Risk, Regulations & Reporting and contribute to current projects. For instance, you will:

  • Keep up to date with regulatory developments, addressing social and biodiversity risk for our lending activities
  • Understand and translate regulatory frameworks, such as the CSRD (ESRS), NFRD, EU Taxonomy, ECB Guide on CER, and Pillar 3’s ESG framework
  • Think along carbon reduction targets for our lending and investment portfolio
  • Translate scientific developments, innovations, and societal demands into future actions for the bank
  • Learn to measure and quantify climate transition risks (e.g. GHG emissions) and physical risks (e.g. floods) for corporate clients
  • And much more!

Our team in Sustainability Expertise – Risk, Regulations & Reporting is part of the Corporate Banking client unit. We are responsible of creating insights on sustainability risks, regulations and strategy to support the Corporate Banking Client Unit: to support them in their strategic goals and ensure compliance in regulatory reporting and implementation.

Our team consists of a diverse mix of young and senior professionals, with a mix of skills and knowledge in the field of ESG and risk management, regulations and data.

Your profile

ABN AMRO is a leading Dutch bank with an international presence. We are looking for skilled and talented interns in the field of Sustainability to help us shape ABN AMRO into a future proof bank.

  • You are enrolled in a Dutch University for the entire period of the internship
  • Your studies are related to Sustainability, Environment or Governance
  • Knowledge and affinity with topics related to environmental, social and governance
  • Knowledge and affinity with data and Excel (other programming languages is a plus)
  • You are fluent in English (Dutch is a plus)
  • You are available for 6 months from Sept. 2024 onwards (Flexible starting day)

  • Strong communication: you can convey information in an accurate and clear manner, both written and oral.
  • Analytical skills: your analytical are well developed in order to understand problems and rethink possible solutions.
  • Proactive: you take initiatives to solve problems and are not able to give opinions and to ask for help.
  • Team-player: you can easily reach out to and collaborate with colleagues, either helping them out or requesting assistance. You are interested to get to know the people in the team
