We are now looking for a (Medior) Wind Resource Analyst.

Within BA Wind’s BU Onshore, Wind Resource is part of the Market and Site Development team and amongst others responsible for delivering wind data for various objectives, having a thorough understanding of the wind flow and designing the layout of the wind farm. We are currently looking for a Wind Resource Analyst to join our team, with a focus on the Dutch, German, Swedish and UK market. Based in the Netherlands, the candidate will have the opportunity to work across different markets in an international and multinational team and with different stakeholders when/where necessary.

Qualifications


Your job as a Wind Resource Analyst:

As Wind Resource Analyst you will analyze the wind conditions and site restriction in current and future windfarms, which includes wind data gathering, data analyses, site appraisal and loss calculations, which eventually leads to an optimal site layout and annual energy production estimation.

Summarized, your job will be:

  • Perform Wind Resource Assessments to assess the wind and site conditions, according to the Vattenfall way of working and latest industry practice where required
  • Analyze constraints for every specific site, in order to define the optimal lay-out of WTGs and WTG selection
  • Perform Production Assessments including curtailments due to e.g. environmental conditions, grid capacity, noise emissions and shadow flickering.
  • Combine technical requirements, practical limitations and financial opportunities into an optimized site layout
  • Occasional discussions and negotiations with OEMs (e.g. TSA)
  • Analyze performance of operating wind farms and apply learnings to future analyses

Your profile as a Wind Resource Analyst:

  • You have a University degree in Engineering/Physics/Meteorology or equivalent
  • Preferably at least 2 years of experience in a similar position
  • You have an interest in renewable energy in general, and wind energy in particular
  • You have an understanding of the cycle of wind projects and the wind industry
  • Understanding the Dutch and/or German noise and shadow flickering regulations is a big plus
  • You have thorough knowledge of wind flow modelling and are an expert in using relevant software such as WindPro, WAsP, Openwind, Windographer or other comparable software. Experience with CFD codes (e.g. WindSim) is a plus
  • Capable of performing the noise and shadow flickering calculations for the wind farms at the development stage
  • You are able to work at the level of the industry’s best practice, and have an eagerness to learn and expand the team’s knowledge and capabilities
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large datasets
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Fluent in English, Dutch knowledge (good comment) is highly desired
  • Skills using common languages for scientific programming (e.g. Python, Matlab) is a plus

Location Amsterdam, based on the project needs and team meetings, some travelling is required in this position.
