Set up and implement our packaging design principles, creating a sustainable one-way-of-working within Rituals’ product development

YOU ARE ALL ABOUT PACKAGING AND SUSTAINABILITY

As a NPD Sustainability Manager, you are the driving force behind ensuring our New Product Development teams use the most sustainable packaging possible. You create design principles and one way of working when it comes to the use of (primairy & secondary) packaging and you continuously initiate more sustainable packaging possibilities. In this unique role, you are making an impact on Rituals’ sustainability ambitions, in line with our ambition to be the highest rated B-Corp in the field of beauty and wellbeing!

SHARE YOUR TALENTS
With your experience in creating sustainable packaging and particularly the research and development that comes into play, you ensure your colleagues can continue developing new products that keep Rituals growing towards the most iconic well-being brand. While we ensure our packaging is as sustainable as possible for now but most certainly also for the future. With your project- and stakeholder management skills, you excel in a multidisciplinary environment, liaising with our sustainability team and inspiring your direct colleagues working within Rituals’ Innovation team.

Your main tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Create design principles for the packaging of our products, focussing on creating the most sustainable packaging available
  • Set up a one-way-of-working so your New Product Development Managers and Category Managers have a clear roadmap on using the most sustainable packaging during the creation process
  • Continuously research and (co)develop sustainable packaging solutions in order to keep working on even better sustainable packaging solutions
  • Manage various suppliers and/or technical experts at suppliers side and other internal stakeholders
  • Act as a liaision towards our sustainability team ensuring we stay on the ball regarding all our sustainability efforts

This exciting new role is a part of our Innovation team, which is responsible for creating new products for all our different categories. Apart from creating meaningful moments for our customers, we are committed to be as sustainable as possible. In order to aid our sustainability efforts, we already added a Product Manager Formula (R&D) who is responsible for ensuring the ingredients we use are as sustainable as possible and now we are adding an NPD Sustainability Manager to the team.

BRING ALL OF YOU
Since it’s up to you to initiate and stimulate sustainable packaging at the design stage, you are experienced in research and you are great at stakeholder management. Apart from these great characteristics, we are looking for a candidate who brings:

  • Bachelor and/or Masters’ degree (Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, R&D)
  • 6 – 8 years of relevant experience in R&D/FMCG and fast-paced environments, packaging development with a focus on sustainability (ideally primary packaging) and sustainability legislation (ILT, CSRD and advising on allowed claims)
  • Experience with various packaging materials and substrates (such as glass, plastics, wood, paper)
  • Experience with various production and printing technologies, (LCA) analysis, tools & methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proven project management experience, working independently and strong in stakeholder management
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and experience with relevant software for data and project management
