Purpose of the role

The primary purpose of this job is to develop, prepare, execute, and analyze application research elements, with a focus on innovation and safety. You will contribute to the realization of objectives in research, development, and support projects, and provide integrated multidisciplinary research data and innovative technologies. You will also ensure compliance with regulations in the area of QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment).

Key responsibilities

As a Researcher at AkzoNobel, your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining a safe work environment and complying with safety policies and procedures.
  • Taking on a pioneering role and sharing expertise within the R&D institution.
  • Planning, executing, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting application experiments.
  • Identifying new product/process optimization and technical solutions.
  • Maintaining and improving application research methods in the field.
  • Participating or leading projects and ensuring the delivery of technical results.
  • Formulating and presenting solution directions and providing advice.
  • Contributing to IP applications for your research work.
  • Applying as a recognized expert in the R&D organization.
  • Developing and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of VR and CV application technologies and equipment.

Key accountabilities:

  • Delivering results on time for medium and large-sized projects, ensuring quality and feasibility.
  • Using and improving methodologies and tools.
  • Protecting AkzoNobel technologies.
  • Providing functional guidance/supervision to teams.

What do you bring?

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a good knowledge of Chemical Engineering or a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering with a good knowledge of Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-6 years of working experience with a Master's degree.
  • High safety awareness.
  • Flexible working attitude.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • A creative approach to research and innovation.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Sufficient proficiency in Dutch or a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and social skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with statistical software and MS Office.
