This vacancy is for FGIV - Economic and Policy Analyst - Transformative Innovation.

Job opportunity description

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) provides independent, evidence-based knowledge and science, supporting EU policies to positively impact society.

The current vacancy is in the Innovation Policies and Economic Impact Unit of Directorate B for Fair and Sustainable Economy. Directorate B's mission is to deliver top-notch analysis and data, fostering fair and sustainable prosperity for today's and tomorrow's Europeans. It takes a holistic approach to economic activities, environmental impacts, and EU citizens' needs. With its analytical tools, Directorate B supports policymaking, boosts EU competitiveness, and promotes environmental sustainability in markets, industry, services, and construction.

The Innovation Policies and Economic Impact Unit assesses the performance and impacts, in particular at territorial and industrial levels, of major EU policies and EU investments and shapes them, through innovation policies, towards a fair and sustainable economy. To do so, it provides socio-economic intelligence, to EU, national, regional and local decision makers, using a broad set of analytical tools and economic models.

The current vacancy is in the TRIBE team (within the Transforming Territories project team), which carries out research exploring the interfaces between science, policy, and practice to support transformative innovation in policymaking through Actionable Knowledge, including the delivery of the Preparatory Action “Innovation for Place-Based Transformation”.

This initiative explores how innovation policy can help European regions accelerate systemic transformations — from climate neutrality to digital transition and long-term competitiveness.
