At a glance

As a Senior Innovator in the A&I team, your role is to drive the organisation towards a data-driven approach by delivering innovative insights, practical solutions, and fostering new ways of working that support transformation within Controlling.

The Analytics & Innovation (A&I) Team

A&I is a self-organising team of innovators and data scientists within Controlling, working alongside controllers, data engineers, and finance professionals. The mission of the team is clear: to make the Finance & Controlling organisation data-driven. This is achieved by developing insights, tools, and models that contribute to faster, better, and fact-based decision-making.

Focus Areas of our team

  • Data insights: The team creates new insights for Controllers and the business. They identify new data sources, combine Finance with Business data, and apply (advanced) analytics techniques and models. This supports the transformation from expert- to model-based decision-making.
  • Process optimisation: The team continually seeks opportunities to improve existing processes within Controlling and Finance more broadly. New technologies such as GenAI/LLMs are utilised to support colleagues’ work.
  • People & skills: The team advises senior management on data opportunities, inspires and informs colleagues about new technologies, and encourages the development of analytics skills within the organisation.

In this senior role, you will actively contribute to the direction and prioritisation of these focus areas, mentor colleagues, monitor progress, and serve as a key link to senior stakeholders within Finance.

Your job

You will work on projects related to the mentioned focus areas, fulfilling both a consulting and technical role. The team uses its own Databricks environment to unlock data and translate it into strategic insights. The environment is complex; data and analytics capabilities are still being developed, so data quality and availability regularly present challenges. We are looking for an innovative professional with substantial experience in data analysis, who brings enthusiasm, a critical mindset, and a proactive approach. While this role is about driving innovation, having a strong foundation in data analysis is essential for success. You should be comfortable navigating complex data sets, quickly identifying opportunities, and asking insightful questions to challenge the status quo. Collaboration and continuously challenging the organisation are essential, as change does not happen on its own.

In this role, you will

  • Translate strategic and operational business issues into data-driven solutions.
  • Provide direction for innovation initiatives within Finance & Controlling and help set priorities.
  • Organise and lead projects, coordinating with various stakeholders within and outside Finance.
  • Analyse existing Controlling processes and develop improvement proposals.
  • Act as a sparring partner for senior stakeholders and help underpin decision-making.
  • Inspire and mentor less technical colleagues in applying data and analytics.
  • Actively follow developments in data, analytics, GenAI, and LLMs, and assess their relevance for Finance.

You feel comfortable in an environment where not everything is predetermined and where progress, learning, and impact are more important than perfection.

Your profile

  • You demonstrate entrepreneurial behaviour, take initiative, and have a proactive attitude.
  • You think flexibly, pragmatically, and outside the box; you solve problems creatively.
  • You enjoy collaborating, constantly innovate, and strive to achieve goals.
  • You possess strong communication skills and can advise senior management and persuade the Finance organisation.
  • You have sufficient technical background to contribute ideas about data solutions and analytics (e.g., PowerBI, SQL, Python, Databricks), without making tools the goal in itself.
  • You have experience with innovation and data-driven working, take ownership, encourage team growth, and connect ideas to practical execution.

We are offering

  • Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
  • Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
  • Possibility to work from home (in consultation with your team and depending on your position).
  • An annual public transport pass with free public transportation throughout the Netherlands.
  • An excellent pension scheme.
  • Room to grow and make an impact within a progressive Finance organisation.
  • Work in an energetic, innovative, and informal environment with plenty of autonomy.
