Product Owner – Frontend Design System

As part of the Engineering Journey, you’ll help shape how 8,000+ engineers design, build, and collaborate every day. We’re building a scalable, consistent, and developer friendly platform, Nexa, and an ecosystem around it. If you enjoy working in a complex engineering landscape, influencing how thousands of developers work, and owning a product that truly matters, this is a great opportunity to make an impact.

This is what we offer you

  • Extras: a thirteenth month, 8% holiday allowance, and a 10% Employee Benefit Budget.
  • Development budget: EUR 1,400 development budget per year for your growth and development.
  • Hybrid working: a balance between home and office work (possible for most roles).
  • Pension: decide for yourself the amount of your personal contribution.

You & your role

Our Area consists of eight squads. We’re looking for a Product Owner to take ownership of the Frontend Design System within Nexa.

As Product Owner, you ensure there’s a structured and reusable collection of design standards and implementation components that help all to build consistent, accessible, and scalable user interfaces within Nexa. You think in terms of value and outcomes, not just features, and you set clear priorities that help the team focus. Your product strategy turns fragmented interfaces and styles into a coherent, reusable, and enterprise-ready design system. You accelerate developer experience, increase predictability, and strengthen UX consistency, laying the foundation for the internal ecosystem of the future.

Examples for practices

  • Accelerate UI consistency & delivery: Design and deliver a modular component framework that enables engineering teams to build interface elements 50–70% faster.
  • Drive design & engineering alignment: Collaborate with design, platform teams, and developer communities to create a shared visual and interaction system.
  • Optimize through insights: Analyze usage data, design reviews, usability feedback, and adoption metrics to reduce design debt and improve UX consistency.

Facts & figures

  • In 2026 we want 100 makers to join the ecosystem of Nexa.
  • 8,000–10,000 engineers will be using Nexa.

Top responsibilities

  • Vision & direction: Define and lead the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the frontend design system, aligned with the needs of engineers, designers, and product teams.
  • Prioritization: Own and prioritize the backlog of components, patterns, documentation, and tooling to maximize value.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with UX, front end, platform, and brand teams to ensure alignment and technical feasibility.
  • Governance & quality: Establish governance that protects consistency, accessibility, and overall quality at scale.
  • Adoption & impact: Drive adoption by promoting best practices, supporting teams, and solving real product needs.
  • Measurement & learning: Use feedback, usage data, and team input to continuously improve components and workflows.
  • Documentation: Ensure the design system is clear, discoverable, and easy to maintain.
  • Built in standards: Make accessibility, usability, and scalability part of every component and pattern.

Together we achieve more than alone

We are curious about what you add to our team of Engineering Journey.

"You really get the space here to drive product innovation that impacts thousands of engineers daily, and you can feel the transformation you're creating," Product Manager.

You & your talent

  • 5+ years experience as a Product Owner, preferably in enterprise scale environments.
  • Strong product vision with a clear focus on value, outcomes, and user impact.
  • Proven ability to set priorities and balance long term strategy with short term delivery.
  • Experience owning or scaling frontend design systems, component libraries, or UI frameworks.
  • Ability to translate between engineering needs, design and UX.
  • Solid understanding of frontend technologies, UX principles and accessibility.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross team collaboration skills.
  • Experience improving developer experience (DX) and team effectiveness.
