Your job

Risk Reporting

External Risk Reporting is part of the central Risk Reporting department. The risk reporting activities were historically embedded across multiple risk management functions. The Risk Reporting department was created in 2025 to centralise internal and external risk reporting for simplifying and enhancing risk management capabilities.

Risk Reporting brings together professionals with varied expertise, creating an inclusive culture that thrives on collaboration and shared success.

Key activities:

  • Take ownership of risk deliverables in the Quarterly and Annual Report covering financial, non-financial and ESG risks. Tasks include managing changes, analysis of figures and writing narrative.
  • Validate Pillar 3 templates, analyse movements and produce clear supporting narrative.
  • Work on projects to improve quality, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Work on tasks within Internal Risk Reporting.
  • Ensure that all risk reports are consistent and aligned across various communication channels. Information shared with investors, regulators, and other external parties should be appropriate, uniform and coherent.
  • Engage with bankwide stakeholders and the external auditor, ensuring all deliverables are accurate and complete.
  • Continue development and enhancement of the reporting process and outputs, ensuring reporting remains appropriate in a continuously changing regulatory environment.
  • Ensure that all reports comply with regulatory and legal requirements, including BCBS239.

Key challenges and desired outcomes:

  • Assist in developing the future state of external risk reporting.
  • Improve the visibility of risks that matter and enable timely effective decision-making.
  • Improve the data-driven way of working: understand the data flow to be able to validate and enhance the bank's data-driven decision-making capabilities through improved risk reporting.
  • Ensure that all bank-wide risk information is consistently analysed and reported.
  • Continuously enhance reporting procedures and formats.
  • Act as a single point of contact for your deliverables.

Working environment

You will report to the Lead External Risk Reporting and work closely together with a team of around 5–7 risk professionals who have the ambition to improve external risk reporting further. External Risk Reporting falls within Risk Reporting, which is part of the department Strategic Risk and Modelling & Risk Analytics. The team consists of colleagues from different backgrounds and with expertise in both financial and non-financial risk. You will work closely with colleagues from Internal Risk Reporting, other Risk departments and Finance departments.

Your profile

  • Academic qualifications: university degree in Legal, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent level of knowledge.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in finance or risk management, or a similar role.
  • Experience with reporting and knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Experience in stakeholder management both within and outside your own team, with the ability to effectively weigh different opinions and make decisions under time pressure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage in dialogue and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong execution and innovation mindset, taking into account alignment with the broader ABN AMRO organisation.

Behaviour we want to see within Risk Management

  • Debate, debate, decide.
  • Gain different perspectives on impact throughout the value chain. Then take the decision, accept the decision and respect single accountability and responsibility.
  • Keep it simple. Start with the goal, set well-defined requirements, proactively address dependencies, seek feasibility in plans and don’t overpromise. No abbreviations.
  • Embrace good. Don't go for perfect, do what’s right and compliant.
  • From being nice to being kind. Ask and act on feedback, be open about the good, bad and ugly. Reflect, adapt and move forward.
  • No excuses – stay the course. Take the lead, own it. Act quickly, standardize progress updates to ensure timely support and escalate.
