We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to develop cryogenic CMOS receiver circuits for scalable quantum bit (qubit) readout. This project lies at the intersection of quantum technology and integrated circuit (IC) design, offering a unique opportunity to work on advanced cryogenic electronics within a multidisciplinary environment.

Job Description

Are you passionate about analog and RF circuit design? Do you have a strong background in microelectronics and want to apply your expertise to cutting-edge quantum technology? Join our interdisciplinary research team to help shape the future of quantum computing!

Your Mission

You will contribute to the design and implementation of scalable cryogenic CMOS receivers optimized for sub-10 GHz operation. These receivers are essential components for reading out the state of multiple qubits in next-generation quantum systems. The project will include:

  • Architecture Exploration: Investigate and evaluate various receiver topologies and readout architectures based on scalability, signal-to-noise ratio, readout speed, and tolerance to circuit non-idealities such as noise and distortion.
  • Circuit Design: Design key receiver blocks, including low-noise amplifiers, mixers, and baseband amplifiers, optimized for operation at cryogenic temperatures.
  • Receiver Characterization: Evaluate receiver performance at both room and cryogenic temperatures.
  • System Integration: Co-integrate your receiver circuits with quantum bits (qubits) in a dilution refrigerator and demonstrate real-time qubit readout.

What We Offer

  • A challenging and exciting research project at the forefront of quantum and microelectronics integration.
  • Access to state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure and cleanroom facilities.
  • Close collaboration with leading experts in quantum technologies, IC design, and cryogenic electronics.
  • A dynamic, international, and interdisciplinary research environment.

Requirements

  • M.Sc. in Microelectronics or a closely related field.
  • Solid background in analog, mixed-signal, and RF circuit design.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international research setting.
  • Demonstrated creativity, originality, and a drive for high-quality research.

We welcome enthusiastic and curious researchers who are excited to contribute to future quantum systems through innovative electronic design.
