As a Commercial Analyst Renewable Molecules & Certificates, you’ll play a key role in supporting our trading and origination activities with advanced market insights, models, and tools, enabling data-driven decisions in a fast-moving and highly strategic environment.

What you’ll do

You will contribute to the commercial success of Eneco’s Renewable Molecules & Certificates (RMC) desk by creating best-in-class fundamental and market analysis models and ad hoc commercial analyses. Your work will provide actionable insights into the European biomethane, bio-LNG, hydrogen, biogenic CO2 and biochar for the energy, transport and maritime markets to name but a few. You will work closely with the policy advisor, business developers, originators and traders of the RMC desk.

We’re looking for someone who combines deep market knowledge with a practical mindset.

  • A Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline

  • For a Medior candidate at least 7 years of experience in renewable molecules market analysis in a trading environment, an energy company, a hedge fund or a market research company

  • For a Senior candidate at least 10 years of experience in renewable molecules market analysis in a trading environment, an energy company, a hedge fund or a market research company

  • Familiarity with renewable molecule markets fundamentals and modelling approaches; solid Python programming skills and experience working with data (SQL, APIs, etc.)

  • A pragmatic, hands-on approach and a drive to improve models and processes; the ability to stay focused in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift with the market

  • Experience in thermochemical conversion processes, techno-economical analyses and O&G markets is also welcome

You’ll be responsible for

  • Ultimately responsible for the commercial analyses that serve as input for various trading and sourcing strategies in line with the business objectives of RMC

  • Determines the analysis roadmap in consultation with the department's MT

  • Checks and contributes to the analyses of the constantly changing price dynamics of the commodities that the RMC teams deal with (such as ETS1 and ETS2 credits, biomethane, bioCO2, bioMeoH, GoOs, bioLNG, CDR credits, biochar, SAF, etc.) and provides trading and structuring advice

  • Checks and contributes to willingness-to-pay analyses of various end users in the relevant markets (such as end users in the green gas blending obligation markets, installations and energy consumers in the ETS1 and 2 markets, fuel suppliers in the road transport and maritime sectors)

  • Provides LCOx (Levelized Cost of ...) analyses of all relevant conversion methods (gasifiers, electrolyzers, CC(U)S, dry and wet digesters, HTL, pyrolysis, etc.) that produce the commodities S&O RM&C deals with. Does so through collaboration and knowledge exchange with the Policy Analyst of RMC; relevant experts within Eneco Group, as well as with external technology knowledge institutes such as TNO, Topsoe, Ramboll, VTT Research, Laborelec, etc.

  • Participates where necessary in relevant internal and external techno-economic consultative bodies (e.g., IEA task force groups, Platform Biofuels) with the aim of enabling the realization of broad strategic R&D goals

  • Ultimately responsible for all periodically required PNL and risk monitoring reports

This is where you’ll work

You’ll join the Renewable Molecules & Certificates team, the brand new department of Eneco's Trading & Structuring division. This a start-up like department consisting of three growing teams: Renewable Gas Desk, Certificates Desk and the Renewable Fuel & Feedstock Desk. You and your future analyst colleagues provide the analytical backbone of this team, together with the policy advisor and with the input of the market facing colleagues. The environment will be start-up like, increasingly international, adventurous, intellectually challenging, and collaborative. Bringing together talent from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
