Boston Consulting Group is hiring a Learning & Development Manager for a 9-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover) to drive the seamless organization of the training offer for Associates, Senior Associates and Consultants (A-Cs) and Business Services Teams (BST) across London, Amsterdam and Brussels (LAB). Ensuring that our people have the best possible skills is business critical and our ambition is to provide high quality learning content for all our staff. The role line-manages two L&D specialists in London and reports into the LAB L&D Senior Manager.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with AC and BST staff to understand development needs and skills gaps (at cohort, function, and individual level)
  • Collaborate with the Career Development team, HR, Talent team, and line managers to identify and address skills needs
  • Partner with EMESA and Global L&D teams; co-shape regional/global initiatives to ensure LAB knowledge, best practices, and needs are taken into account
  • Support roll-out of regional/global initiatives and campaigns, including content development or pilots where required
  • Oversee implementation, execution, and administration of mandatory and optional training for BST and A-C staff
  • Drive projects at LAB, EMESA, and Global level in line with strategy and business goals
  • Lead change efforts to revamp curriculum, delivery, and communication

Build and develop the LAB L&D trainer team

  • Attract and motivate new trainers to join the L&D trainer team
  • Ensure onboarding and development of L&D trainers, building a pipeline into regional/global L&D faculty where required
  • Develop relationships with training agencies and vendors
  • Serve as part of the L&D faculty
  • Deliver local/system and/or regional/global trainings
  • Upskill and coach new L&D trainers

Manage L&D Specialists across the three offices

  • Manage and support team members in each office to execute day-to-day tasks
  • Oversee professional development and provide apprenticeship
  • Create an encouraging, supporting, and stimulating work environment
  • Support other L&D Managers during sickness and holidays

You are good at

  • Understanding the consulting business and the nature of client work
  • Proficiency in standard software used at BCG (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with LMS software (e.g. SABA)
  • A “can do” and flexible attitude, creative problem-solving skills, and tenacity to find solutions
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Patience and sensitivity to listen to and deal with complex issues
  • Working independently, taking initiative, and staying self-motivated
  • Strong organization skills, planning ahead, and managing many initiatives in parallel
  • Working effectively under narrow time limitations while producing accurate results
  • High degree of integrity
  • Excellent project management skills to ensure timely closure of activities
  • Clarity, tact, and professionalism in communications
  • Managing key stakeholder relationships, including interactions with Senior Management
  • Giving honest and open feedback in a timely manner

What You'll Bring

  • 6+ years’ experience in Learning & Development
  • University advanced degree
  • Experience leading and managing a team
  • Experience in training or coaching within a professional services/consultancy environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and proactivity
  • Excellent English skills (verbal and written communication)
