The Role
The main focus of this position is to provide advice and guidance in various tax areas relating to new business initiatives within Booking.com, Booking.com Transport or Fareharbor. You proactively support (Senior) Tax Managers with their end to end responsibility from scoping the issue/challenge (incl. budgeting) to the overall solution (execution and implementation), including the stakeholder management.
As a tax generalist you are keen in broadening your tax expertise and support the team driving the company’s compliance with a wide range of tax regulations (indirect taxes, corporate taxes, employment taxes and other local (income) taxes), including supporting identifying tax risks of new and existing practices, through research, analysis and providing implementation support.
As a Senior Tax Consultant you will work at the headquarters of Booking.com in Amsterdam (6,000 employees with over 100 different nationalities), where almost our entire tax department sits. The Booking.com tax department currently consists of approx. 35 persons, which are working in either one of the two business focused teams (Accommodations/Fintech BU and Trips BU) or in the tax compliance & controversy and tax technology teams. You will sit in the Trips BU team, which is a multi-tax disciplinary team dedicated to supporting the Trips organization (incl. car rental, rides, flights, insurance, attractions) and advising on employment tax matters. You will report directly to the Tax Director. The tax department is part of Booking.com’s international Finance team (approx. 1000 professionals, mostly based in Amsterdam).
The role involves close interaction with the entire tax department (Booking.com and Booking Holdings Group), various business teams, our international offices, functional teams and other finance colleagues in Amsterdam and Manchester. Therefore it is essential that you have excellent management and communication skills in English.
