The role: In this Senior Business Controller, Trips Business Unit role you will be part of a dynamic, international and fast-paced team, working in the scope of the Trips Business Unit department. This position is based in our headquarters in Amsterdam and will report to the Senior Manager of FP&A, Trips Verticals.
You will play a key role in the financial planning and control cycle activities for your area(s), whereby there is a clear emphasis on bridging innovative business strategies into solid financial plans. On the basis of detailed business analysis you proactively take the lead in advising stakeholders on their departments’ expenses, FTE growth and other relevant KPIs. Ad-hoc analyses and business cases are part of the scope whenever there is a need from the business. You will also work on enhancing ways of working within our team. Think about standardizing processes, automating financial reporting, or strengthening planning & control processes with other departments like Accounting or Procurement. You will also work on Booking.com broad cost optimization projects. You will be involved in all stages of these projects, from development to execution, in close cooperation with other Business Controllers, the Business, and relevant teams outside of FP&A.
Specific to this Senior Business Controller, Trips Business Unit role, you will work in a team of Business Controllers. Your span of work will be across all Trips verticals (Car Hire, Rides, Flights, Attractions, Insurance, and any more that may or may not be added), the entire Business Unit lead by the SVP of Trips, and related projects. Your role and the immediate team of colleagues will focus on control and projects with Trips-FP&A. (a) Business Control of fixed OPEX-cost lines of the P&L. (b) Supporting the Senior Director of Trips and Marketplace, the Senior Manager of FP&A, Trips Verticals and the Senior Manager of FP&A, Ground Transport, to run cross-vertical and all-TBU operational processes, including: weekly reporting, monthly business reviews that span all verticals, operational planning/coordination for forecast and budgeting cycles, and similar activities. (c) Various ad-hoc projects in the team and partnering with the wider Business Control community and Corporate Functions to ensure consistent approaches and standards are maintained in Trips and the entire business. (d) And more as the role requires
Due to the continuous evolution of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role will evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and challenge yourself to take on additional projects and responsibilities as they present themselves. This role requires a dynamic and proactive person with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
