Role Description

Role Overview

As the Senior Project Manager, you will work closely with the Senior Technical Product Manager and sit at the critical center of our mission to transform the engine behind our Travel LLMs. You will lead the shift from training disconnected models to building a unified, travel-specific foundation and a suite of task-specific models designed to outperform generic LLMs on travel-related tasks.

Leading a high-profile program of 100 people across multiple teams, you will ensure these models are built for maximum reusability across a wide range of global use cases, eliminating organizational redundancy and fragmentation. You will bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and scalable product delivery, ensuring our proprietary intelligence becomes the foundational layer for the entire Connected Trip ecosystem.

We are looking for a strategic project leader with strong data and ML literacy and a solid understanding of data product development. You will partner with senior stakeholders across global, regional and site teams to surface requirements, secure buy-in and keep initiatives aligned with the goals of Booking.com and the Marketplace department. You will champion change in a high-velocity, agile environment where frequent releases impact many layers of the organization, designing governance frameworks from scratch, managing complex cross-functional dependencies, and maintaining a steady delivery rhythm in a high-ambiguity environment.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the execution of the Travel LLM roadmap, managing the critical path, dependencies, and resources across multiple teams to deliver a predictable, high-velocity release schedule.
  • Design and implement the program operating model, including cross-functional ways of working, governance processes, and progress tracking across all matrixed workstreams.
  • Partner with Product to drive the roadmap for the Travel LLM foundation, ensuring task-specific models are built with cross-departmental reusability as a core requirement.
  • Define and monitor operational and model performance metrics (e.g., accuracy, latency, task effectiveness) and support the consolidation of redundant model-training efforts into the centralized framework.
  • Apply structured change management methodology, including stakeholder analysis, engagement plans, and communication strategies to enable adoption of Travel LLM solutions.
  • Independently lead high-complexity projects from scoping and planning through execution, analysis, recommendation, and implementation, ensuring a smooth handover to BAU.
  • Set up and maintain project governance and reporting, ensuring risks, dependencies, and decisions are clearly captured, communicated, and acted upon.
  • Act as primary point of contact for your projects, maintaining strong engagement with stakeholders (up to Director level). Facilitate workshops and working sessions to align on scope, priorities, and solutions.
  • Define clear objectives, KPIs, and success metrics for projects and workstreams, and track impact against these over time.

Role Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Agile / PMP or similar certification preferred.
  • 5–8 years experience in project/program management in tech, data or product environments.
  • Proven track record leading complex, cross-functional programs in a matrixed organisation.
  • Experience with platform/ecosystem thinking (platform-as-a-product, central services used by many teams).
  • Exposure to AI/ML initiatives and strong data & ML literacy; understands data product development.
  • Strong E2E project management (scope, plan, deliver, close) and change management skills.
  • Able to influence without authority and align Research, Engineering, Product and senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, structured and hands-on, comfortable in ambiguity and high-velocity change.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management up to Senior Manager / Director level.
