Join Main Capital Partners – Where Your Ambition Meets Purpose

At Main Capital Partners, we believe in the power of smart, driven individuals to shape the future of software. With approximately €7.0 billion in assets under management, we are a strategic investor focused on innovative software companies across Benelux, DACH, Nordics, France, and the US. Our mission is to support sustainable growth in the software sector, one of the most dynamic and impactful industries today.

We’re proud of our strong track record and our reputation as one of Europe’s most distinctive and high-performing investors. With a portfolio of 55+ companies, we’re growing fast - and so is our team of 90+ professionals across offices in The Hague, Antwerp, Düsseldorf, Stockholm, Paris, and our affiliated office in Boston.

At Main we empower our portfolio companies with deep sector knowledge, a strong network, and inspiring events like the Main Software 50, Main Insight Event, and Main CTO Day. Our investor base includes leading institutional investors, family offices, and visionary entrepreneurs. In 2024, we raised €2.44 billion across two new funds, fueling our next chapter of growth.

Your Opportunity: Market Intelligence Analyst

At Main, you will work in a dynamic and international environment where collaboration and data-driven decision-making are central. As Main continues to grow its portfolio and further professionalize its use of data, we are expanding our Market Intelligence team. The Market Intelligence team supports Main’s investment teams and portfolio companies by delivering structured, data-driven market insights. The team combines qualitative research (such as expert interviews and market reports) with quantitative analysis based on an extensive internal database covering more than 35,000 software companies across Main’s core regions. In addition to maintaining and developing this database, the team integrates external data sources (including Pitchbook) and runs analyses to identify market trends, growth opportunities, and relevant investment targets. The team also works on improving workflows through automation and the practical use of data tools and AI, helping to make analyses more efficient, consistent, and scalable. These insights are directly used for market screening, deal sourcing, and investment decision-making.

The Market Intelligence team is responsible for:

  • Strategic market analysis & thought leadership: Producing high-quality, data-driven market reports on software segments, end markets, and technological, macro-economic, and regulatory trends. These insights directly support and substantiate Main’s investment theses and decisions.
  • Data management: Owning and continuously improving our database by maintaining data quality, managing our software taxonomy, implementing process improvements, integrating third-party data sources, and further building and scaling our internal data infrastructure.
  • Turning data into practical insights: Using internal data and third-party sources to analyze market growth, identify trends, and create lists of potential target companies. These insights are used by the investment team for deal sourcing and market exploration.

What you’ll do:

Strategic market studies:

  • Analyze markets, segments, technologies and trends, and translate findings into clear actionable recommendations for Main and its portfolio companies.
  • Preparation of online surveys and (automatic) processing of their results.
  • Support the data collection process for the annual Main Software 50.

Data management & innovation:

  • Maintain Dealcloud, as our main data platform.
  • Assist in setting up new data infrastructure and further workflow automation solutions.
  • Process, structure, and link data from third-party sources.
  • Scraping websites to store information quickly and in a structured way.
  • Monitor and improve data quality at Main.
  • Leveraging and making our data more widely available, e.g. through dashboarding in PowerBI.

Practical data insights and deal support:

  • Running queries on our own database (and external data sources) to find potentially interesting companies (deal flow generation).
  • Creating and implementing standardized templates and frameworks for market intelligence.
  • Setting up (semi-)automated processes to generate deal sheets, market scans and benchmarks.

What you’ll bring:

  • You have completed technical, university-level education with a focus on data, business analytics, or information management (e.g. data science, business informatics, econometrics, or a similar field).
  • You have 0–2 years of experience or relevant exposure to market research and/or data and analytics, gained through a first role, internships, or projects (e.g. as a market researcher or analyst, or within private equity, venture capital, M&A advisory, corporate development, software, or data-focused organizations).
  • You are naturally curious and enjoy understanding how markets, companies, and technologies work, and you like turning that understanding into structured insights.
  • Experience with Python, Azure, Power BI and/or SQL is a plus.
  • You are proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • You have the ability to work independently and prioritize in a changing and challenging work environment.
  • You have strong analytical skills.
  • You have a proactive, self-starting, and flexible mindset. You thrive in dynamic environments where priorities can change at any moment.
  • You have good social and communication skills and integrity. You always work as part of a team and communicate with deal teams, and possibly management teams and the layers below.
  • Excellent command of English and Dutch in word and writing is a must (German or French are a plus).
  • A genuine interest in software, IT, or SaaS.

What we offer you:

  • Entrepreneurial, fun, young and dedicated team within an informal open corporate culture.
  • Gain experience, knowledge and insight into a leading sector-focused investment fund, in the fast-growing software sector.
  • Get involved in dynamic and interesting projects quickly.
  • Many responsibilities early on.
  • A steep learning curve and career progression.
  • Competitive benefits package, including (healthy) lunches every day and a generous company fitness plan.
