What are you going to do?

As an experienced Product Owner of the globally used AEOS access control system, you will contribute to one of Nedap's most strategic solutions. Together with two R&D teams, you will work on the further development of our on-premises AEOS server and controller application: a mission-critical environment in which security, compliance and stability are key.

You actively gather insights from the market and within Nedap: from customers and partners to sales, support and operations. You translate these into clear product choices and priorities within the broader Security vision. As Product Owner, you determine what is needed and when. The team determines how. By providing clear context, you help the team take ownership and focus on solutions that support organisations worldwide in the secure and compliant management of physical access.

In addition to product ownership, you will fulfil a leadership role within the team. You will encourage collaboration and ownership and have an eye for the professional development of team members. You will combine product-related choices with attention to people and create an environment in which craftsmanship and growth are central.

During development, you will monitor consistency, progress and alignment with user needs. You bring clarity to the reasoning behind choices and are a visible ambassador for AEOS, connecting teams and stakeholders around the direction and future of the product.

Your responsibilities

  • Proactive stakeholder management: You actively maintain contact and collaboration with many and diverse stakeholders (both internal and external) to translate the product strategy into a roadmap and initiatives.
  • Prioritisation & backlog management: You make decisions based on data, stakeholder input and business value. You say “no” or “yes, but later” when necessary. You set realistic expectations and ensure that we only commit to what is achievable.
  • Ownership of the product: You translate strategic goals into concrete priorities and intended results for the team. In doing so, you always find the right balance between customer value, product health and delivery speed, and you manage expectations in a timely manner to avoid overload or unrealistic promises.
  • Monitoring the product lifecycle and product health: You ensure that your product remains maintainable, supportable, secure and reliable. You balance new functionality with compliance and stability.
  • People development: You conduct progress and development interviews, coach team members in their roles and support their professional growth.
  • Team performance & collaboration: You monitor team dynamics, engagement and workload and ensure that the team can perform effectively and sustainably.

Your team

As Product Owner, you will work with two multidisciplinary teams comprising front-end, back-end, UX, test and ops engineers, and documentalists. These are skilled and experienced teams with a mix of seniority levels. Within Security, you will also work with the other product owners and team coaches, with whom you will coordinate.

Our offer

As a Product Owner at Nedap, you make a valuable contribution to our mission: helping people become happier and more successful in their professional lives. The salary range for this role is between € 4.500 and € 6.500 gross per month based on full-time employment (38 hours) and depends on relevant knowledge and experience. In addition to your salary, you’ll receive a thirteenth month’s pay, a solid pension plan, and profit sharing with the opportunity to become a Nedap shareholder.

At Nedap, everything revolves around trust and autonomy. That’s why, along with your colleagues, you decide on your own working hours and vacation days to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

We also place great importance on both personal and professional growth. You’ll receive a thorough introduction and are encouraged to keep developing yourself throughout your career.

Required experience and skills

As Product Owner, you are responsible for the vision of the product, the customers, your team and quality. This means that you bear ownership and responsibility for this, but also communicate this to others. You are able to make clear choices amid the complexity of the large number of stakeholders and all their associated wishes. This also means that you can say “No” and justify your decision well. As a Team Lead, you can provide direction and allow space: you encourage ownership, responsibility and cooperation. In addition, you have the communication and social skills to get everyone on board, but also to challenge them. In doing so, you encourage a feedback culture and a safe environment in which discussions and opinions can be expressed.

You also recognise yourself in the following:

  • Product Owner experience: You have at least 5 years of experience as a Product Owner/Project Lead in a similar environment. Preferably, you have experience in multiple organisations as a Product Owner/Project Lead.
  • Team Lead experience: You have Team Lead experience in substantively managing and coaching professionals within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Technical affinity: You have an affinity for, knowledge of, or experience with technology/software development. You do not need to have been a developer yourself.
  • Language skills: You have a good command of the English language, and proficiency in Dutch is an advantage.
  • Nice to have: Knowledge of Jira and PSPO certificates are nice advantages.

Good to know: You are available for 32-38 hours per week. Hybrid (remote) working is common at Nedap, and you and your team can coordinate your working hours to achieve a good work/life balance. You will be present at our campus in Groenlo at least twice a week.
