Introduction

You will join a team that develops alignment technologies for next‑generation semiconductor manufacturing. The group focuses on improving how lithography systems understand and correct wafer positioning. This internship supports that mission by creating predictive models and indicators for advanced alignment strategies. Your work will help teams make clear, data‑driven decisions and contribute to technology that directly impacts chip performance.

Your assignment

You will explore how advanced alignment behaves under different conditions and translate insights into practical guidance. You will apply both physics‑based reasoning and data‑driven methods to evaluate potential improvements, and test ideas using simulations and available datasets.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Build predictive models using physics‑informed and data‑driven methods.
  • Design performance indicators that show when advanced alignment adds value.
  • Run simulations to test hypotheses and compare model outcomes.
  • Validate results using available data and document your findings.
  • Translate insights into clear recommendations for internal stakeholders.
  • Investigate links between predictive indicators, stability factors, and training needs.

Your profile

To be suitable for the internship, you:

  • Are enrolled in a master’s degree in physics, mathematics, data science, or a related field.
  • Have experience with MATLAB and general data analysis techniques.
  • Bring knowledge of semiconductor processes or numerical optimization (a plus, not required).
  • Are analytical, collaborative, and self-propelling.
  • Communicate clearly and enjoy translating technical findings into actionable insights.

Other requirements you need to meet:

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship.
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. If you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
