Introduction to the job

The Planning & Delivery (P&D) Customs function manages the compliance risks related to imports and exports formalities. Next to risk like penalties, denial of export privileges and imprisonment for officers of the company in case of violations of import and export laws and regulations, the risk can also be quantified in Euros. Except for services and software sold by ASML, ASML’s total revenue needs to cross borders and will at a certain point in time, be subject to import and export regulation and compliance. Joining ASML as Customs specialist, you bring your Customs expertise to the next level by entering a company that leads the semiconductor industry and reshapes the boundaries of technology.

Role and responsibilities

As Customs specialist, you work closely with the project group of the customs P&D department for maintenance and set-up of ASMLs Customs Management Systems, safe guarding that all operational processes are interfaced. Next to the project group, you work with many other parts of ASML’s business such as Customer Supply Chain Management, Legal, Freight, facilities, HR, tax, and finance, but also with outside parties like customs brokers, consultants and government agencies. In this role, you:

  • Execute the customs operations in NL/EMEA in the context of the business and corporate priorities with a high focus on internal clients; participate in formulating structures and processes together with experts around the world and at the ASML Headquarter.
  • Help the business to overcome compliance related issues, innovate and liaise with members of local management on a tactical and strategic level internally as well as externally in the area of customs compliance; represent ASML towards outside parties if required (local government, legislator, peers, interest groups) where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance for ASML, enabling a smooth and uninterrupted supply chain, including compliance-related support of local and regional supply chain partners (suppliers, 3PL’s).
  • Share responsibility for the goals and targets of internal clients.

Education and experience

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in a Customs/Supply Chain related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience working with Dutch customs on an operational level, preferably in a large and high-tech organization like ASML.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Dutch customs is a must.
  • Fluent in both Dutch and English, written and verbal.
  • Experience working with data to lead operational teams (Mastering Excel is a must, Spotfire skills are a plus).

Skills

Working at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way to do that. You won’t work in a silo. Instead, you’ll be part of a creative, dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You’ll have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems.

  • Good communicator.
  • Team player.
  • Influencing stakeholders without power.
  • Hands-on mentality.
  • Strong eye for improving current processes and ways of working.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
