About the role

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on, and commercially driven Commercial Manager with strong commercial acumen to grow and manage the Jan Dekker portfolio. In this role, you will work closely with IMCD local commercial teams worldwide to drive sales growth and strengthen market presence. Acting as a product expert and commercial partner, you will help teams communicate product benefits, overcome customer objections, and identify opportunities to expand the portfolio. Alongside driving sales, you will resolve operational challenges that impact performance, ensuring smooth execution and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive and maximize sales and margins of Jan Dekker portfolio.
  • Identify and eliminate day-to-day operational bottlenecks that impact sales, guaranteeing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate the strategies and objectives of Jan Dekker to IMCD Commercial teams, ensuring that the objectives established are in alignment with both Jan Dekker’s as their expectations.
  • Conduct regular business reviews in collaboration with local IMCD commercial teams.
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the local IMCD commercial team.
  • Work closely with the IMCD local commercial team to handle customer objections by clarifying information, emphasizing benefits, and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
  • Work with local IMCD commercial team members to drive revenue & margin and help to close deals and meet targets.
  • Assist the local IMCD commercial teams in driving and reviewing the opportunity pipeline and in identifying potential opportunities/customers as well identifying portfolio gaps.
  • Maintain knowledge about Jan Dekker’s portfolio and current market conditions.
  • To review and proactively manage issues related to inventory management (and work with Jan Dekker operational team to ensure optimal supply/inventory management) and NCR’s.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to increased sales.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum of five years experience in commercial/sales in a (chemical) distribution environment and/or industrial B2B.
  • Living in the Amsterdam area or Randstad region. Valid EU work permit.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written); Dutch is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems; experience with Analytics/JDE is an advantage.
  • Entrepreneurial and commercial mindset with the ability to drive and maximize sales.
  • A well-defined sense of partnership, with solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and team alignment capabilities.
  • A team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment. This role does not include direct people management responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning, and implementation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills. And a proactive, “can-do” mentality and result orientated attitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy and accountability.
