Assistant Controller TVD

Our International Television Distribution (TVD) Division is responsible for distributing Universal-owned and acquired products globally. As part of the TVD Finance and Accounting team in Amsterdam, you’ll join a dynamic group focused on delivering accurate and timely financial reporting and driving continuous improvement in our processes.

As an Assistant Controller, you will work closely with various stakeholders, support strategic initiatives, and help shape the future of our finances. You’ll report directly to the TVD Controller in the Netherlands and manage day-to-day finance tasks outsourced to our offshore partner. Key Responsibilities:

• Monthly and Quarterly Close & Reporting: Oversee general ledgers and all aspects of the close and reporting process, including balance sheet reviews, account reconciliations, analytical reviews, and corporate reporting for television distribution activities.
• Controllership and Special Projects: Ensure a robust internal control environment, compliance with group policies, procedures, laws, and regulations, and the integrity of financial and operational information. Participate in special finance projects focused on continuous improvement and finance transformation.
• Statutory and Tax Reporting: Assist in external and internal audits and support the Tax team to ensure compliance with local tax regulations and reporting requirements, including corporate income tax, withholding tax, VAT, and transfer pricing processes.
• Governance: Collaborate with Finance Operations teams and offshore finance partners to ensure all outsourced finance activities are performed as agreed.

• Proven team player with a collaborative working style
• Strong drive, curiosity, and adaptability, with exposure to a broad range of finance topics and stakeholders
• Experience working in a large external audit organisation
• Strong influencing and interpersonal communication skills
• Finance qualification – ACA, ACCA, CIMA, US CPA, Dutch RA/RC
• Professional experience in a controllership or similar finance role within a large multinational organization; public accounting experience is a plus
• Strong technical accounting experience, including comprehensive understanding of accounting standards (US GAAP, UK GAAP, IFRS)
• Proficient with financial accounting systems and Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a plus
• Fluent in English (verbal and written)
• Experience working with external audit
• Experience managing outsourced finance partners and remote teams is desired
