Introduction to the job

As a team lead for Service Sales accounting, you will lead a team responsible for the accounting, analysis, controls, and reporting relating to the customer service sales activities of ASML. You will collaborate with teams across the world and align with stakeholders in Finance and Business to ensure proper managerial and external reporting. You will work in a dynamic and internationally-oriented environment with tight deadlines and direct impact on ASML’s financial results.

As part of the Finance Operations team Europe within ASML's Business Services (ABS) organization (reporting into the CFO organization), you will be responsible for the Service Sales Accounting team, consisting of six people and based in Veldhoven. The primary objective of the Service Sales accounting team is to effectively and efficiently execute the periodic accounting process for Services (US GAAP and IFRS) as well as SOX execution, ensuring compliance obligations for ASML are met. The team also ensures an efficient and effective globally managed Service accounting process and works closely with other finance functions such as Business Insights & Control (BI&C), Tax, Technical Accounting experts, Country Finance teams, Sales Control, Order Management Desk, and the Business line finance teams. As team lead, you will partner closely with the Business to support new initiatives and growth opportunities by co-designing optimized end-to-end process solutions. You will focus on continuous process improvement to achieve world-class operations, leveraging LEAN methodologies.

Role and responsibilities

  • Lead financial accounting for the customer service activities and ensure proper and timely internal and external reporting in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS revenue recognition guidance (ASC606/IFRS15).
  • Lead insightful analysis and support on accounting topics related to customer services activities towards business counterparts within Customer Service, Business Lines, Business Control, Sales Control, Tax, and Order Management Desk.
  • Prepare proposals and work together with the Expert Advisory (EA) team on special transactions and ensure incorporation of changes in accounting standards.
  • Drive improvement initiatives in the area of accounting, reporting, and transactional processes and work closely with Asia and USA teams.
  • Drive execution and improvement of our internal control framework and SOX controls for the applicable customer service processes.
  • Develop and demonstrate strong understanding of the customer service sales processes, reflected in the reports, analysis, and commentaries provided to business counterparts within Customer Service, Business Lines, and Business Control.
  • Partner closely with the Business to support new business initiatives and growth opportunities by co-designing optimized end-to-end process solutions.
  • Relentlessly focus on continuous process improvement to achieve world-class operations, leveraging LEAN in our processes.

Education and experience

  • Master’s degree in accounting supplemented with a CPA/RA degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a multinational environment in comparable positions or Big Four.
  • Knowledge of and experience with US GAAP and IFRS as well as experience with revenue accounting and related processes.
  • IT technical experience with data analytics, AI, and automation of processes like RPA is a plus.
  • Experience in leading a team of highly skilled and motivated people.
  • Affinity with end-to-end process optimization (including LEAN) as well as affinity with internal controls, SOX, reporting, data analytics, and continuous monitoring.
  • Experience with SAP ECC.
