As a highly skilled Systems Engineer for Quantum & Cryogenic Systems in the System Engineering team at Delft Circuits you will work at the intersection of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, cryogenics, and quantum computing, playing a key part in the design, integration, and optimization of complex I/O systems for quantum computing. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop reliable, scalable solutions for cryogenic quantum hardware and system-level architectures and provide technical support to our Sales team.

At Delft Circuits, we’re pushing the boundaries of cryogenic electronics with our flagship Cri/oFlex® platform—the world’s first fully integrated cryogenic I/O solution for quantum computing. Based in Delft, Netherlands, our diverse team of engineers, physicists, and innovators combines deep technical expertise with an open, collaborative culture — where ideas are shared, challenges are tackled head-on, and impact is real.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the multidisciplinary projects for system-level design and integration of quantum hardware: high-density wiring and cryogenic infrastructure around it
  • Translate high-level requirements into functional system architectures and technical specifications
  • Design and validate electrical, mechanical, and thermal interfaces
  • Develop and maintain block diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), and system requirements
  • Perform system-level modeling, simulations, and trade-off analyses
  • Support hardware development including:
    • Cryogenic systems and thermal design
    • RF and signal integrity considerations
    • Mechanical design and packaging
  • Coordinate testing, debugging, and verification activities from prototype to product level
  • Identify system risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers
  • Collaborate closely with physicists, hardware / R&D engineers, and production teams
  • Support system-level documentation and product qualification

What you bring:

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Systems Engineering or a related technical field
  • Strong understanding of at least two of the following:
    • Cryogenic systems
    • Quantum hardware
    • RF engineering
    • Mechanical design for precision systems
    • Thermal engineering
  • At least three years of experience in high tech industry and working with complex multidisciplinary system designs
  • Familiarity with system engineering methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with test setups, diagnostics, or troubleshooting of hardware systems
  • Ability to manage complexity and communicate clearly across disciplines
  • Proficiency in documentation and technical reporting
  • Prior customer facing experience

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with quantum computing platforms (superconducting qubits, cryogenic electronics, or quantum interconnects)
  • Knowledge of:
    • Cryostats and dilution refrigerators
    • Low-noise electronics
    • Vacuum systems
    • RF design and measurement
  • Experience with tools such as:
    • MATLAB / Python
    • CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar)
    • Simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, CST, etc.)
  • Previous experience in high-tech R&D or semiconductor environments

Why join Delft Circuits
