Join the Benelux Life Corporate Actuarial Department of Allianz as an Experienced Actuary Focusing on Reserving Transformation

The Benelux Life Corporate Actuarial department of Allianz is looking for an experienced actuary focusing on reserving transformation.

Who are we?

The Life Corporate Actuarial department fulfills a key role within the company by protecting the stability of the company, i.e., ensuring it is financially resilient by determining adequate reserves. This secures our commitment to our customers. On top of that, we enable and support profitable growth by challenging new business propositions. A holistic view is paramount: balanced risk/return trade-off while keeping the customers’ interest at heart. In this expert international community, we enjoy cross-functional exchange in teams with diverse cultural backgrounds, while embracing a modern style of working. Finally, we learn from our mistakes, speak our minds, work and laugh hard while challenging the status quo!

Join our Reserving team to take our deep-dive analysis to the next level. You will use statistical techniques to refine our best estimate assumptions, build actuarial models, and provide insights that feed directly into our capital models and pricing strategy.

Who are we looking for?

The Life Corporate Actuarial department is never at a standstill; we continue to implement new technologies, reshape processes, adhere to and adapt to the latest regulatory (Solvency) and accounting (IFRS) requirements, and enhance our management reporting with automated dashboarding and artificial intelligence. All this in a fully Agile way! In this active and challenging environment, we are seeking a forward-thinking Actuary or Actuarial Data Scientist to join our Corporate Actuarial team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between traditional actuarial reserving and modern data engineering. You will be responsible for streamlining our quarterly reserving process by replacing manual workflows with robust, automated data pipelines, and producing business insights in an efficient manner.

Your Profile

Must haves:

  • Pro-active and pragmatic attitude with a track record of executing projects
  • Appetite to work in a regional setting with different cultures and approaches
  • Master’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, other quantitative fields, or data science
  • 3+ years of experience in actuarial reporting and/or data analytics (experience in data engineering and model development is also considered)
  • Ability to manage different stakeholders (from Board of Management to direct colleagues)
  • Fluent communication in English
  • Experience in various software languages (preferred: Python, R, C++, WTW RA FM, etc.) to efficiently handle and analyze large and diverse data sets or to model the actuarial cash flows of our life insurance products

Relevant experience seen as a big plus:

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS17 and Solvency II
  • Ability to make presentations on the spot and adapt communication style to the audience
  • Experience in managing and automating insurance data flows and processes, as well as data visualization and dashboarding
  • Fluent communication in English, as well as either Dutch or French
  • Actuarial Certification (AAG, IABE, or from other recognized actuarial associations)

Your responsibilities:

Depending on your strengths and skills, we might ask you to:

  • Set up and maintain data feed processes, calculations, regulatory and management reporting (including meaningful analysis)
  • Improve and harmonize existing processes surrounding data analysis, assumption settings, actuarial models, and control framework
  • Enhance business partnering solutions (dashboarding), allowing us to communicate clear messages to our stakeholders in steering our life business
  • Provide input and actively participate in various committees (e.g., reserving committee, smart circle meetings, product committee, etc.), linking portfolio analysis to real-world observations and product features. Challenging the status quo is our creed!
  • Contribute towards new projects, such as M&A, improving existing or setting up new processes, and implementing new technology

What we offer

  • Excellent competitive salary package and secondary conditions
  • An engaging, diverse team of experts spread out over the Benelux and Romania
  • Freedom to determine where and when you work (new way of working) – output driven
  • Development opportunities, including a proven track record of promoting internal talent
  • Access to Allianz’s global Finance community with leadership and expert classes and regular exchanges
  • Ability to follow internal and external training (e.g., Xcelerate Academy, DataCamp)
