Make your mark on our time? Join TNO as a System Architect Supply Chain Innovations in The Hague!
The Sustainable Transport & Logistics (STL) research group develops and demonstrates groundbreaking innovations that make the logistics sector future-proof. Think of challenges such as labor shortages, congestion, and climate impact. At TNO, you’ll have the freedom to formulate your own research questions and contribute to solutions with direct societal impact across various application domains (such as international and intermodal transport, urban logistics, and defense). Many of these solutions rely heavily on information technology. However, digitalization in the sector still lags in some areas, and implementing new technologies can be challenging. Your contribution will help bridge this gap!
As a System Architect Supply Chain Innovations within STL, you’ll be at the forefront of innovations that advance the digitalization of the logistics sector and enable new concepts. Think of new collaboration models for sharing assets and jointly planning transport resources, helping to avoid empty trips. These kinds of solutions require more than just new planning algorithms; they also demand ways for companies to share data within various partnerships. This must be done without concerns about access to sensitive business data (Zero Trust) and in a scalable manner. We explore technologies such as Data Spaces, AI, and Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PET). But these technologies also need to be successfully integrated and that’s where you come in!
You’ll work on innovative projects in the logistics and public sectors, with collaboration between market and government partners at the core. Market partners include both logistics companies and IT service providers. You’ll think about the future, but also know how to make ideas practical and translate them into clear requirements. This gives direction to follow-up steps in research and development. Sometimes you’ll work with market partners on solutions close to scaling up; other times you’ll collaborate with TNO colleagues from various disciplines to build and test a proof-of-concept. Your product mindset and experience with Agile working will be very valuable here. You’ll conduct applied research and present results clearly both verbally and in writing so that more and more stakeholders recognize the value of your work. Additionally, you’ll help build new projects and maintain contact with clients and stakeholders.
