Develop and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy to drive new business opportunities and market growth in the heavy marine transport sector. You get the opportunity to work on international and one-of-a-kind projects that often receive media exposure, such as the transportation of huge floating dry docks, 300-meter-long FPSOs, or the decommissioning of major offshore units like the Zafiro Producer.

This role combines the dynamic and fast-paced nature of short-term chartering with that of strategic long-term tendering for O&G projects, mainly focused on onshore module transportation.

In the short-term chartering market, you will be responsible for maximizing our vessel utilization between our Renewable and O&G projects. Clients are mostly defined as jack-up rig owners, dredging companies – including in-house transportation, as well as barge operators and various shipyards.

For the O&G market, you will work on the transportation of onshore modules destined for the construction of LNG plants. Clients are mostly defined as the large, well-known EPCI’s, NOCs and IOCs globally.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities and industry developments to identify market opportunities.
  • Influence the market and actively assist clients in an early phase with various solutions to create a favorable position and secure upcoming opportunities for Boskalis.
  • Identify and engage with potential clients, understand their needs, and offer tailored solutions that align with Boskalis’ capabilities and services.
  • Achieve pre-qualification with existing and potential clients to enable bidding for projects.
  • Lead negotiations and contract development, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that mitigate risks and maximize commercial benefits.
  • Collaborate closely with various internal disciplines, providing commercial guidance and supporting effective project execution and delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to promote repeat business and enhance Boskalis’ reputation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including contract management, pricing policies and business ethics.

Your qualities and experience

  • At least 3-5 years’ relevant working experience in the industry. Applicants with previous roles in sales or business development, as well as applicants making the next step coming from another discipline are seriously considered.
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, economics, business-administration is considered an advantage.
  • Having experience in negotiating BIMCO Charter Parties (voyage/time charter) is an advantage.
  • Affinity with the maritime industry, especially Heavy Marine Transportation.

  • Your team: You will be part of our Offshore Energy, Heavy Marine Transport team.
    • The commercial team consists of 5 Sales Coordinators, 4 Tender Managers and 15 Commercial Managers based in offices from Yokohama, Japan to Houston, Texas.
    • The commercial team works closely together with other disciplines such as Operations, Engineering, Legal and Finance who are all based in the Papendrecht Head office.
  • Where you will work: You will be based at our Papendrecht office, with regular travel required for client meetings and exhibitions.
  • Full-time/ part-time job: The position of commercial manager is a full-time job.
