The team works with certified B Corps, country partners, and the wider B Lab network to coordinate strategy and operations across the region.

Role Overview

The Operations Department at B Lab Europe supports the organisation’s mission by keeping internal operations running smoothly. It manages finance, HR, legal, IT, and office administration, while improving organisational efficiency by process design, innovation, insights, and resource allocation. The department also helps shape strategy and ensures compliance.

This role is part of the People & Culture (P&C) team within Operations. The role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely payroll and HR administrative processes for employees across multiple European countries. The ideal candidate will have multi-country HR experience, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing vendor relationships.

This is a unique opportunity to help build the new regional P&C team and support organisational growth in a fast-changing environment. While payroll is the core responsibility, other tasks will evolve, giving the candidate the chance to help shape them.

Main Responsibilities

Multi-Country Payroll and Compliance (50%)

  • Payroll Ownership: Handle the whole monthly payroll for current and future European countries (NL, BE, DE, and expansion countries). This includes starters, leavers, salary changes, variable pay, reconciliation, and timely submission to providers.
  • Vendor Management: Be the main P&C contact for external platforms (Deel and Oyster), managing payroll, global mobility, and remote work arrangements.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Make sure all payroll and tax documentation meets local laws. Maintain accurate salary data and provide monthly variance reports.

HR Administration & Systems Management (30%)

  • HRIS Knowledge: Work with the Employee Lifecycle Senior Coordinator to maintain the main HRIS platform (e.g., Personio), keeping data accurate, updating organizational structures, and managing user access.
  • Global Mobility: Manage and coordinate the administration of global mobility and remote work arrangements through relevant platforms, and help shape related policies.
  • Other systems: Support the team with setting up and running other P&C systems as needed.

Process Optimization and Transformation (20%)

  • Process SetUp & Optimization: Set up and improve efficient, reliable compensation and HR processes. Identify, propose, and implement projects to improve HR administrative tasks to improve P&C efficiency.
  • P&C Audit Readiness: Maintain internal controls and documentation to ensure P&C is audit-ready at all times. This includes working with the Finance team on the annual data verification.
  • Transformation support: Help with projects such as expanding to new countries and other initiatives as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

  • Payroll Expertise: Strong knowledge of multi-country payroll, especially in Europe.
  • Compliance & Administration: Solid understanding of European labor laws and HR best practices, with attention to accuracy and confidentiality.
  • System Proficiency: Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Personio) and Global Mobility platforms (Deel, Oyster).
  • Problem-Solving & Project Management: Able to solve complex administrative issues independently and manage optimization projects from start to finish.
  • Service & Communication: Excellent communication skills with an ability to provide customer service for payroll and HR questions, adapting communication to different audiences.
  • Process Optimization: Experienced in process design and improving processes to simplify administrative tasks.

What We Offer

  • The salary for this role is €48,500 per year (including holiday allowance), adjusted based on the location of work and applicable benefits.
  • A four-day workweek (full-time at 32 hours), promoting work-life balance and well-being.
