Job Description

Do you enjoy working at an international start-up? Is it important for you to contribute to innovative products and do you thrive to make sustainable impact? If the answers are yes, you might have what it takes to be the next HSSE Engineer in our team!

Introduction
To cover a maternity leave, we are looking for an experienced QHSE Advisor to temporarily join our team for approximately 3 months starting in January 2026. This job is on a hybrid basis and requires working from our Amsterdam office 1 to 2 days per week.
In this role, you will support and further develop our Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental practices—both in the office and across our projects. You will work closely with project teams and management to ensure that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with applicable standards and company procedures.

We are specifically looking for someone with proven experience in offshore operations, ideally within the renewable energy or offshore wind industry. You will bring practical understanding of the challenges involved in offshore construction and can apply your knowledge to help raise our QHSE performance to the next level. Your expertise will contribute to the continued professionalisation of our management systems and the safe execution of our innovative projects.

The information in this role description is intended to provide an overview of the key responsibilities within GBM Works for this specific position and may be subject to change as needed to meet the evolving needs of the company.

Projects

HKW Project
In March, GBM Works will execute the installation of three monopiles using Vibrojet® technology. The QHSE Advisor will play a key role in ensuring the safe and compliant execution of this operation.

  • Acting as the main QHSE contact for both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Maintaining communication and coordination with the client;
  • Supporting the offshore team with practical QHSE guidance;
  • Facilitating coordination between all project parties to ensure aligned safety practices;
  • Organising and supporting all activities necessary for safe execution (e.g. risk assessments, identifying project-specific requirements, and providing QHSE input to the project team).

Internal Projects
Provide ongoing QHSE support to internal projects, including facilitating and reviewing risk assessments, ensuring lessons learned are implemented, and maintaining alignment with company standards and processes.

Development of the Management System

  • Develop business processes in close cooperation with process owners;
  • Support the implementation of these processes across departments, in collaboration with the Board;
  • Ensure the Management System remains aligned with operational realities and scalable as the organisation grows.

Overall Role

The QHSE Advisor is responsible for maintaining and further developing a robust Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (QHSSE) Management System that supports GBM Works’ operations across both R&D and commercial projects. The role embeds QHSE principles into all phases of GBM’s work—from R&D to offshore deployment—ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal standards.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and external partners, the QHSE Advisor combines policy development with hands-on operational involvement, ensuring that innovation and operational excellence go hand in hand with a strong safety and sustainability culture.

Key Responsibilities

Integrated Management System Development

  • Maintain and further develop the integrated Management System, embedding QHSE principles across all business processes;
  • Act as the gatekeeper for the system’s structure and usability, while process owners remain responsible for content;
  • Safeguard consistency, integration, and accessibility across departments.

Policy and Regulatory Compliance

  • Establish and maintain QHSE policies, procedures, and manuals in line with applicable regulations and industry frameworks.

Client Requirements

  • Prepare and provide QHSE documentation required for project execution, ensuring alignment with GBM’s internal system and client expectations.

Risk Management and Mitigation

  • Maintain and facilitate the company-wide risk management framework;
  • Support and review risk assessments with project leads and engineers, ensuring quality and consistency;
  • Ensure mitigation strategies are identified and implemented during both design and execution phases.

Incident Management

  • Lead incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis, reporting, and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions.

Performance Management

  • Monitor and analyse QHSE performance indicators;
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practice sharing;
  • Support the organisation in embedding a proactive safety culture.

Impact

The QHSE Advisor ensures that GBM Works delivers innovation safely—from prototype testing to commercial deployment. Through leadership and collaboration, this role helps protect people, the environment, and project outcomes, embedding HSE excellence as a core component of responsible engineering in the offshore wind sector. With your offshore experience and strong QHSE insight, you will help GBM Works strengthen its systems, culture, and performance as the company continues to grow and deliver pioneering solutions in the renewable energy industry.

Job Requirements

About you

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Energy, Environmental Sciences, or a related field
  • 4+ years of working experience in QHSE
  • Proven experience in a QHSE role, preferably within offshore or onshore engineering projects
  • Practical and hands-on approach to implementing HSSE measures
  • Strong understanding of QHSE regulations and standards
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
