We are looking for a HSE Officer EMEA for our Distribution Domain at our headquarters in Veghel to support our regional teams in delivering high standards of HSE on our sites and continually improving our way of working. You must be an excellent communicator, socially aware and professionally qualified in HSE.
As HSE Officer you will be responsible for supporting various projects / service activities within the business. Scenarios may be for a more hands on role where you will be based at site for a large project actively working with the site team to manage HSE for site activities and / or you will be responsible for more remote support to multiple smaller project and service sites and visit to check progress / performance on a regular basis.
Your Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Implementation: Develop and execute pre-start safety programs in collaboration with project and service managers, and report progress.
- HSE Planning & Support: Assist in preparing, implementing, and maintaining HSE plans and site safety programs.
- Risk Management: Plan and review high-risk activities, assess risk documentation, and verify effective management of safety-critical requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Lead HSE discussions during meetings, inductions, toolbox talks, and site inspections to ensure awareness and compliance.
- Competence & Training Oversight: Monitor training records, team competence, and understanding of risk topics; report findings.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report contractor and team HSE performance, compliance, and behavior; ensure timely issue resolution.
- Incident Management: Use company/client systems to report and investigate hazards, near misses, and incidents; escalate critical issues and conduct root cause analysis.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate on additional HSE documentation, support QHSE teams, and promote a “right first time” safety culture.
- Relationship Building: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safety excellence.
What do we ask from you?
- Professional degree and certifications in Occupational Health & Safety
- At least 3 years’ HSE experience in fast-paced, high-risk, multi-site environments; experience with automated material handling systems is a plus
- Knowledge of environmental management and quality systems beneficial
- Strong problem-solving skills, team-oriented, and committed to high QHSE standards; willing to challenge the status quo
- Effective communication and stakeholder management across diverse teams and cultures
- Familiar with international HSE standards, auditing, and regional legal requirements
- Skilled in preparing risk assessments, toolbox talks, reports, and conducting incident investigations including root cause analysis
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages an advantage
- Valid driver’s license and high willingness to travel regularly within EMEA
