Be part of progress: Join ASML’s Legal & Compliance Department

Help safeguard ASML’s long-term success through smart collaboration and forward-thinking compliance. As part of the Competition & Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) team, you will work closely with a small, highly dedicated group of legal professionals operating globally. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in competition law and regulatory compliance, while engaging directly with business stakeholders and external counsel. You will be exposed to international legal practices, conferences, and subject matter experts across different focus areas—all within one of the world’s leading technology companies.

Your assignment

As a Legal Intern within the Competition & FDI team, you will support initiatives that ensure ASML complies with global competition and trust laws. The role offers significant room for ownership of various initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and mapping global competition law and related regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting with the development of trainings, compliance toolkits, and communication materials.
  • Supporting awareness campaigns on competition and regulatory topics.
  • Conducting legal research and contributing to ad-hoc projects.

This is a non-thesis internship for a minimum of 6 months. It requires an investment of at least 3 days per week (minimum 2 days on-site in Veldhoven). The start date is set for February 9th, 2026.

Your profile

  • You are currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Competition Law, European Law, Economic Law, or another relevant field.
  • You have strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • You are interested in competition law and preferably have affinity with foreign direct investments or compliance risk control frameworks.
  • You are proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in an international environment.

Other requirements you need to meet

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship.
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to be able to perform your internship. If you are currently living or studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter should include the willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen studying in the Netherlands, your university must be willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
