Design financial processes that keep our retail engine running smoothly

How do you make our customers happy?

By ensuring the financial processes behind Retailer1 operations are so reliable that our teams and partners take them for granted. Retailer1 is our own retail operation and by far the largest of the 47,000+ sellers on our platform. As such, it plays a crucial role in maintaining our desired assortment quality and quantity, for example by filling in white spots and keeping prices competitive. As the Financial Process Analyst, you’ll diagnose and optimize key financial processes: purchasing, vendor payments, allowances, and transaction processing. You’ll ensure that every euro goes where it should, when it should, enabling seamless operations for all relevant teams. Can you make our processes flawlessly reliable and invisibly smooth?

The biggest challenge

Combining operational reliability with continuous improvement in a high-volume retail environment. At our scale, process inefficiencies can cascade across thousands of transactions and vendor relationships. Even minor hiccups can have a significant impact. How can you identify bottlenecks before they affect operations? How can you align Finance, Retail Operations, and Tech teams around process improvements when they are primarily focused on realizing their own ambitions and priorities? And how can you design solutions that work today while building the automated, scalable processes we’ll need tomorrow? Success requires analytical precision and pragmatic stakeholder management. Understanding what should change is one thing; realizing your vision across a complex organization is an entirely different matter.

What you'll do as a Retailer1 Financial Process Analyst

You’ll join a cross-functional product team focused on Retailer1’s financial operations. You’ll work closely with the Retailer1 Financial Data Analyst, Product Managers, Engineers, and business stakeholders. While the Data Analyst builds the dashboards and monitoring systems, you’ll optimize and continuously improve the underlying processes while keeping them compliant. Your work includes analyzing current financial processes to identify inefficiencies and risks, and designing improvements. You’ll map complex flows – from purchase orders to payments – to determine where automation can replace manual labor and where human oversight remains key.

Working with Finance, Legal, and Retail Operations, you’ll validate requirements and ensure process changes meet both business needs and compliance standards. A key part of your role is serving as a liaison between business and technical teams. When stakeholders request changes, you’ll assess the feasibility and implications. When engineers propose technical solutions, you’ll ensure they solve the stated business problems. You’ll also ensure that changes to our financial processes comply with licensing requirements and relevant compliance frameworks, ensuring we operate responsibly as we scale.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyze and optimize financial processes across purchasing, vendor payments, allowances, and transaction processing
  • Map current-state and future-state process flows to identify opportunities for increasing automation and efficiency
  • Validate stakeholder requirements from the perspectives of Finance, Legal, and Retail Operations
  • Assess process changes for compliance implications and licensing requirements
  • Bridge business needs with technical solutions, ensuring implementations solve real problems
  • Monitor process performance and coordinate improvements with cross-functional teams
  • Document process standards and best practices for scalability

Why you can make a difference

You combine analytical rigor with expertise in process improvement. With 3+ years of experience in analytical or process-focused roles, such as Process Analyst, Product Analyst, Business Analyst, or Auditor, you understand how financial data flows through systems and how systems interact. You’re comfortable working at the intersection of business and technology, and adept at translating requirements between stakeholders from both groups. You combine structured thinking with a talent for pragmatic execution. You can map complex processes, identify root causes of inefficiencies, and design solutions that people are eager to implement. Most importantly, you balance analytical depth with a collaborative mindset; you know when to dive into details and when to step back and align the team.

3 redenen waarom dit (n)iets voor jou is

  • Compulsive completionist If even a single variable remains unknown, you keep analyzing. As a result, 99% of your work remains non-actionable.
  • Compliance sceptic You view rules and regulations as hurdles rather than frameworks that enhance customer trust
  • Solitary scrutiny You'd rather perfect processes by yourself than collaborate across functions
  • Complexity tamer You find satisfaction in making complex financial operations simpler, more reliable, and more efficient
  • Collaboration champion You bring together Finance, Retail, and Tech stakeholders to design solutions that work for everyone
  • Actionable analyst You combine analytical skills with practical drive, ensuring insights result in implementations

Where you'll work

You’ll join one of the leading retail tech platforms in the Netherlands and Belgium, where 2,900 colleagues collaborate to serve 13.7 million customers and support 47,000 business partners. Our environment combines the energy of a scale-up with the stability of a market leader: we move quickly, learn continuously, and maintain high standards. The culture is professional yet personable. We set ambitious goals, help each other achieve them, and use humor to navigate inevitable challenges. You’ll work alongside talented colleagues who share your commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement. Ready to build the financial processes that power reliable retail operations at scale? Show us how you’ll turn process complexity into operational simplicity!
