In this role, you will support the regulatory capital modelling team with model design, model methodology, and regulatory compliance. You will advise the model owner of the capital models and model developers on how to deal with regulation in complex situations and upcoming new regulations. The MSG team is also responsible for the modelling process, modelling standards, model environment, and supports the model teams with project management.

The Backbone Risk Modelling (BRM) department sets the foundations for the risk modelling teams, ensuring proper modelling and data infrastructure for the bank’s critical risk models. The team provides support on model design, methodology, and regulatory compliance. The BRM department is part of the Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) division, whose director reports to the Chief Risk Officer.

Way of working

As a Senior Regulatory Capital Specialist, you will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for maintaining and enhancing the risk model backbone and ensuring that risk models are developed in line with regulations. The goal is to provide a solid foundation for the development and use of risk models. You will advise model developers and model owners on regulatory requirements, participate in model change projects, and attend regular model owners meetings. Progress and status are tracked through agile project management tools and regular team meetings. Next year, the plan is to start designing new IRB and IFRS9 models, combining both by having one base model and specific calibrations for IRB and IFRS9.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with model owners, data & implementation teams, modelling teams, and other stakeholders to understand the business needs and requirements for the bank's risk models.
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and work closely with IT and data teams to ensure successful implementation.
  • Translate data needs for model development into technical specifications, acting as the link between modelling teams, technical data & implementation teams, and data owners in the business.
  • Perform technical tests to verify if requirements are correctly implemented.
  • Support the business owner with user acceptance testing of the implemented solution.
  • Monitor the performance and availability of the technical infrastructure supporting the risk models.
  • Identify and troubleshoot any issues or bottlenecks that may impact the smooth operation of the risk models.
  • Provide support and guidance to model users and stakeholders, ensuring effective access to and utilization of risk model data and outputs.
  • Contribute to process improvements and initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall reliability and efficiency of the risk model infrastructure.

As a Senior Regulatory Capital Specialist, you will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, including the ability to bridge the gap between regulation and business needs, effectively manage stakeholder relationships, and drive continuous improvement within the regulatory compliance of A-IRB models.

What do you bring?

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between business and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to break down complex issues and identify practical solutions.
  • Experience in a similar business analyst or liaison role, ideally within a financial services or risk management context.
  • Experience with database tools and database languages like SQL is preferred.
  • Familiarity with risk management concepts and financial regulations (e.g., Basel III) is preferred, but not essential.
  • Proven track record in change management and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to navigate organizational dynamics.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and build productive relationships.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to continuously learn, as the risk model infrastructure and requirements evolve over time.

What do we offer?

This position is in scale 11 with a salary range between €79.982,- and €106.642,- gross annual fixed income (13th month and 8% holiday allowance included) and based on a 36-hour workweek. In addition, you can count on:

  • 208.8 hours of leave based on full-time employment regardless of your age.
  • A good collective pension scheme.
  • Good work-life balance and flexibility in working from home.
