Drives and supports the design, governance, and operational delivery of Board and ExCo remuneration at dsm-firmenich. The role aids in the development of compensation frameworks that are attractive, competitive, performance-driven, compliant (AoA, AGM voting), and address shareholders and regulatory expectations. It also oversees the operational execution of payroll and other regulatory requirements in various jurisdictions. Finally, the role drafts the annual Compensation report and ensures a successful audit by the external auditor.

Your key responsibilities

  • Remuneration Design: Drives and leads the development and refinement of executive pay strategies and structures, ensuring alignment with business needs, ESG priorities, business goals, external benchmarks, regulatory requirements, and company values.
  • (Incentive) Program Management: Co-designs and implements remuneration plans, among other benefit schemes, short- and long-term incentive plans (STI/LTI), including equity-based compensation, and coordinates goal-setting and performance evaluations.
  • Executive Pay Advisory: Advises on terms and drafts relevant documents (mandate and employment agreements, settlement agreements, standards and guidelines), assuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Governance and Committee Support: Acts as a support/advisor to the Compensation Committee secretary (CHRO), ensuring compliance with Swiss and international regulations, and manages documentation and disclosures such as the Compensation Report and investor communications.
  • Operational Execution Across Jurisdictions: Oversees payroll, equity administration, permits, and regulatory filings for executives and Board members, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and legal compliance.
  • Market Intelligence and Benchmarking: Conducts peer benchmarking, monitors regulatory and investor trends, and translates insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborates with internal leaders and external stakeholders—including investors, proxy advisors, and consultants—to explain and reinforce remuneration practices.

You bring

  • Master’s degree in human resources, Finance, Law, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in (executive) compensation.
  • Experience working with Boards and senior executives in a Swiss public listed, global organization.
  • In depth knowledge of labor law, tax, and social security regulations across jurisdictions, along with strong understanding of remuneration regulations and governance frameworks.
  • High integrity and discretion, with strong communication and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels, including senior leadership.
  • Capable of guiding high-level decisions with diplomacy and clarity, while balancing broad strategic vision with strong attention to detail.
  • Skilled in data analysis, financial basics, market benchmarking, and peer comparisons.
  • Experienced in managing processes and projects with audit readiness, including payroll and equity administration and reporting.
