How you can make your mark

Within the Marine Services business unit, projects revolve around floating/moored structures, such as FPSOs, FPUs, TLPs, or SPARs as applied in O&G as well as the typical floaters in Floating Wind. Some of the projects this team has worked on are the Offshore Wind Installation Kincardine and the WindPlus Project, close to the coast of Portugal.

Marine Services, with its large fleet of Construction Support Vessels, large Anchor Handling and Long Distance Towing Tugs, is perfectly positioned to cater for transporting and installing these types of floating structures. With the development of Floating Wind solutions worldwide, Boskalis is expanding its fleet and organization further to cope with the increasing demand for our T&I expertise. You can make your mark as a Lead Project Engineer at Boskalis Marine Services by being the linking pin between project preparation and executing these very large projects.

Using your expertise and experience in maritime projects, you will direct and manage the technical part of the project team on various aspects. You will be responsible for the working methods and work preparation, managing aspects like safety, planning, procurement, permits, and maintaining contacts with clients, subcontractors, and local authorities to ensure that high-quality projects can be realized within the agreed requirements. You will be part of the MS Engineering Department and report to the Engineering Manager; on daily activities you’ll report to the Project Manager. As the lead of a part of the project team, you know how to communicate efficiently on different levels to achieve your goals.

Are you looking for a company that realizes challenging projects globally and provides you with the opportunity to travel and learn different cultures? Then we would like to get to know you better at Boskalis!

Your responsibilities as a Lead Project Engineer at Boskalis Marine Services:

  • Translating project planning and engineering into detailed planning and working methods, so that the project can be realized efficiently and effectively in accordance with the contractual agreements (safety, quality, planning, and budget);
  • Liaising with all involved departments (project- and tender-support, operations, SHE-Q, fleet-management, procurement, cost control) to ensure that the right working methods have been selected and that manpower and equipment are available when needed;
  • Identifying project risks and developing mitigation plans;
  • Acting as the key interface towards clients for all engineering-related topics;
  • Identifying and reporting deviations from the contract and taking appropriate measures when needed;
  • Assisting the Project Manager in issuing progress reports to the customer and providing input to the Project Manager for internal progress reports.

You can make your mark as a Lead Project Engineer if you have:

  • At least 10 years of relevant working experience in an international, dynamic project environment, leading multi-disciplinary project teams in floating/moored structures projects in the O&G or wind industry;
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, preferably in offshore/marine technology, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or naval architecture;
  • A team player mentality;
  • Willingness to travel globally and go offshore on one of our vessels during project execution.

The following competencies are also important for the role:

  • Planning and organizing of the project and working methods by delegating tasks with matching responsibilities;
  • Creating a supporting environment where there is room for developing new behavior and capabilities.
