About the Role

The Training Manager is accountable for the overall quality, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance of all Part 135 training programs. This role encompasses the oversight of pilot and repairman training and qualification activities for Part 135 operations. Key responsibilities include the development of all training programs, and management of the Flight Operations Training Manual. The Training Manager also ensures that all training records are accurately maintained in full compliance with applicable federal regulations.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Certification:
    • Develop and implement training curricula, meeting or exceeding company requirements for Part 135 regulations.
    • Thorough knowledge of the contents of Part 135 documentation and experience with writing and revising Flight Training Manual (FTM).
    • Responsible for oversight, compliance, and monitoring the process and quality of flight crewmember training and qualification.
    • Maintains training record system in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Training Management:
    • Lead the training team through immense scaling, while developing a scalable and sustainable training program.
    • Lead the development of training standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Maintain operational readiness by ensuring all training requirements are met.
    • Communicates training, checking, and qualification results to the Chief Pilot (CP) and DO.
    • Oversee training programs for pilots and operations personnel.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Scaling:
    • Collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance operational training.
    • Work closely with our DO and DOM, understanding training requirements, matching them to our current state of operations.
  • Lead a high-impact team in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Develop scalable workflows that ensure training compliance, safety, and efficiency as operations expand.

  • FAA Part 135 training experience, including leadership in a commercial aviation or UAS environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and enforce training for aviation operations.
  • Strong understanding of FAA training regulations, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience leading teams, managing trainers, and scaling flight training operations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial drone training development and implementation.
  • Prior involvement in obtaining and maintaining FAA Part 135 certification for UAS operations.

Compensation

Actual compensation within the pay range listed below will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. Base salary is localized according to employee work location.

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).

The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado: $74,700—$125,500 USD
