We are looking for Engineering Managers for our Central Tech Business Unit in the Fraud Platform and Network team, which is part of the Fraud Technology & Services capability within the Fraud organization, part of Central Tech.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

People Leadership

  • Directly manage Engineers and/or Machine Learning Scientists/Engineers in multiple teams and in various roles
  • Lead by example by taking ownership, being proactive and collaborating
  • Nurture, grow and develop engineering talent in the team
  • Foster a great culture that innovates, works together as a team, partners with other Booking.com teams and roles, and celebrates unified success
  • Respect the Booking.com values and use them as a guide to the way we work

Technology, Craft & Delivery

  • Technical Incident Management
  • Building and integrating software applications
  • Creating development, deployment, and integration plans
  • Continuous Quality and Process Improvement
  • Creating a culture of ownership and technical excellence
  • Manage technical stakeholders in integrating solutions

Architecture & Product Strategy

  • Thought partner for Product to define, shape and deliver the roadmap
  • Architectural Ownership and Guidance
  • Drive innovation in their own team

Role Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience in software development with proficiency in one of the following languages: Java, Objective-C
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty as equivalent
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience, including 3+ years of managing a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Deep knowledge of the Java ecosystem, including a proven track record of migrating services to Java
  • Solid understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture, Microservices, and OOP patterns, and experience with large-scale distributed systems and high-availability APIs
  • E-commerce and Payments Acumen: Strong understanding of e-commerce fraud threats and a deep knowledge of the Booking.com Payments ecosystem
  • Problem-Solving & Communication: A proactive, results-driven, and analytical mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with technologies like Maven, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Cassandra, or AWS, as well as an understanding of ML/AI technologies, is a plus
