About the Role
As Engineering Manager at Shiftbase, you'll lead multiple tech teams in building impactful features for our customers and their tens of thousands of users. You bridge strategic product vision and technical execution, playing a key role in our growth ambitions. With inspiring, energetic, and approachable leadership and strong people management skills, you’ll build, guide, and continually develop high-performing tech teams—while celebrating shared successes.
You value strong collaboration with departments like Product Management, Product Marketing, and Data to ensure solutions go live quickly and deliver immediate impact. You foster a culture of trust, ownership, and continuous improvement both within and outside your engineering teams.
With a proven track record of building and leading high-performing tech teams, you’re the go-to expert for complex (IT) challenges. You’re a strategic partner to the CTO (to whom you report), a coach when possible, and a hands-on leader when needed. You champion an engineering culture that promotes innovation, productivity, enjoyment, and long-term sustainability. You drive platform quality and scalability, introducing best practices in CI/CD and test automation.
In short, you ensure Shiftbase’s ambitious growth is supported by excellent technical execution—across People, Processes, and Tools.
Key Responsibilities
Team Building & Coaching
Recruit, develop, and inspire high-performing tech teams focused on growth, collaboration, and joy at work.
Roadmap & Planning
Translate product strategy into clear technical roadmaps and sprint plans; monitor progress and deliverables.
Quality & Scalability
Implement and uphold best practices in architecture, CI/CD, and test automation for sustainable performance.
Cross-functional Alignment
Work closely with Product Management, Product Marketing, and Data to launch features swiftly and effectively.
Tackling Complex IT Issues
Act as a strategic sparring partner and expert for complex technical decisions.
Culture & Continuous Improvement
Cultivate a culture of trust, ownership, and constant improvement across teams and processes.
Who You Are
Experienced Leader
8+ years in software development, including 3+ years in a leadership role within a fast-paced SaaS environment. You know how to scale teams and build inspiring work environments.
People-Centric Coach
You thrive on helping others grow. Your approachable style, clear feedback, and team rituals promote collaboration and enjoyment.
Strategic & Structured
You turn product strategy into actionable plans, track KPIs like release frequency and uptime, and adjust as needed.
Tech-Savvy & Pragmatic
Familiar with modern architecture (DDD, modularization) and robust CI/CD pipelines. You focus on delivering value.
Data-Driven Decision-Maker
You use metrics and telemetry to identify pain points, run A/B tests, and make informed decisions that improve stability and performance.
Hands-On & Results-Oriented
You lead complex challenges, roll up your sleeves when necessary, and ensure your teams consistently deliver.
Excellent Communicator
You maintain clear communication with the CTO, Product, Marketing, and Data teams. You translate technical topics into business terms.
