Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

This is an exciting and challenging role in a fast-paced environment with responsibility for handling a broad range of litigation and regulatory matters as well as pre-litigation counseling on a wide variety of topics. The role involves close and ongoing collaboration with members of the Legal Team, the Global Affairs (Policy) Team, the Communication Team, the various Content verticals and many other stakeholders throughout the company. Risk tolerance, an experienced perspective on international litigation and litigation risks, and an ability to understand and manage multiple internal resources dealing with cutting-edge legal issues are critical in this role. The role is headquartered in Amsterdam and reports to the EMEA Head of Litigation.

This is an opportunity to be part of a public company with a great consumer brand and to help Netflix shape the future of digital media. The ideal candidate will welcome the opportunity to be part of a fast paced and entrepreneurial organization where freedom and responsibility are core values, and passion, innovation and curiosity are mandates.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have at least 7 years of post-qualification litigation experience in the media sector, ideally as external legal counsel and as in-house counsel. Candidates should be familiar with the film industry and should have passion for and interest in the related legal issues. This is a very cross-functional role, so strong collaboration and communication skills are necessary. Previous in-house experience is preferred. Candidates should have experience in international litigation, being able to handle complex litigation matters in multiple jurisdictions.

The successful candidate will also possess the following:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and judgment.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively cross-functionally, think practically, and be solution-oriented.
  • Enthusiasm for tackling matters outside the area of expertise (a lot of them will be).
  • Wicked sense of humor.
  • Fluency in English required.
