ASML – the world’s leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry – has prioritized the application of Cloud throughout its IT services landscape. The Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) has already deployed a global Azure platform and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as part of a hybrid, multi-cloud strategy.
Role and responsibilities
In this role, you are responsible for leading Google Cloud Platform development to optimally serve customer demand. This can be through solution design, assisting the team, co-creating, or setting up a PoC/MVP yourself. You will be part of the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), which operates as an Agile Release Train (ART), and specifically join the Google Cloud Team. The team's vision is to provide a flexible and reliable automated cloud platform to enable accelerated and sustainable adoption of cloud across ASML, maximizing the ability to realize its benefits while reducing risks, supporting ASML's growth, and bringing innovative cloud solutions to the teams. The Google Cloud Team is looking for an experienced, hands-on Google Cloud Platform architect.
- Define technology standards and the future state of Google Cloud Platform Services (creating reference architectures, guiding principles, solution building blocks, etc.).
- Closely collaborate with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, System Architects, and other team members to develop and operate Google Cloud platform services.
- Demonstrate thought leadership in the adoption of cloud within the organization.
- Ensure security and cost optimizations are integrated into all cloud architecture solutions of the platform.
- Develop PoC/PoV as required.
- Support team members in developing and maintaining new platform services, including hands-on infrastructure-as-code and automation best practices.
- Act as a subject-matter expert around GCP for ASML.
- Maintain design documents within the domain.
- Provide support and consultancy on applications running on Google Cloud Platform (improving performance, self-service capabilities, networking, etc.).
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Business Management, Computer Science, or Electronics.
- 5-10 years of experience as a Cloud architect or lead engineer.
- Solid background with Google Cloud.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Experience in setting up enterprise-level account structures and security models in GCP.
- Experience in configuring and using PaaS offerings.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud-based delivery models.
- Extensive knowledge in cloud-based data integration patterns and architectures.
- Engineering and coding skills applied in an agile way.
- Knowledge of and experience with IT architecture methodologies and processes (e.g. TOGAF) for supporting ASML’s cloud architecture and other target architectures to incorporate cloud services.
- Service management methods and processes (ITIL) to support teams in their transition towards agile/DevOps teams in the mindset “you build it, you run it, you fix it”.
- Proven track record in road mapping, technical architecture design, solution definition, project management/execution, and change/risk management.
- Work experience from large, international companies and experience with global service providers.
